. The contractor shall contact local utility companies to determine the location of underground utilities. All utility adjustments shall be coordinated with the appropriate untility owners.. Two spare cabinet conduit shall be stubbed and capped: one in nearest signal cable pull box and one in nearest loop pull box. 3. The contractor shall provide a two-man bucket truck and assist the inspector in physically examining each signal head the same day it is erected. 4. The contractor shall be responsible for hand excavating (to a depth of 5') each pole location to expose existing underground utilities and for coordinating with all utility companies prior to ordering the shop drawings for the concrete strain poles. Should any conflicts be found, the contractor shall provide conflict information to the engineer immediately. The contractor should anticipate up to three (3) excavations per location may be required. The cost for hand excavating and backfilling the proposed foundation locations (prior to foundation construction) shall be included in the price for the concrete strain poles. 5. All loop wire, signal cable and electrical service wire shall be run in separate conduit and pull boxes. 6. When installing ground wire in the controller cabinet, the copper ground wire shall not come in contact with the aluminum cabinet. 7. Before concrete strain poles are ordered, the contractor shall check the elevation of all pole and roadway elevations to ensure traffic signals are installed at the proper heights. 8. Signal head assemblies shall have clearances of 6' min. / ' max. from the bottom of the assembly to the roadway. Pedestrian signal assemblies shall have clearances of 8' min. / 0' max. from the bottom of the assembly to the sidewalk. 9. The contractor shall call Sunshine 8 at least full business days prior to any excavation. 0. Traffic shall be maintained in accordance with the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices", the FDOT Standard Indices and any Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) requirements contained in this plan set.. The following standard drawings from the Florida Department of Transportation, Roadway and Traffic Design Standards (latest edition) shall be made a part of the plans and contract documents: Index Nos. 7700, 77, 7, 777, 7736, 7748, 7764, 778, 7784, 784 and 7870.. Each loop shall be treated as an individual loop with separate lead-ins from splice point to cabinet terminal. 3. All saw cuts shall be sealed immediately after loop wires and lead-ins have been placed. The use of type III steep asphalt or coal-tar-based cement to seal traffic detector loops is prohibited. 5. The contractor shall notify the City of Palm Coast and Flagler County Engineering Departments at least full business days prior to beginning any work in the intersection. The City Engineer and County Engineer shall also be contacted full business days in advance of any installation of grounding rods, underground conduit, setting poles or sealing signal head assemblies so that these operations may be observed. 6. The contractor shall notify the appropiate utility department at least full business days in advance of pole setting operations where conflicts with overhead electrical conductors or undergound utilities is expected, in all cases where joint poles are called for, and for trenching operations or any operation where utility conflicts may be encountered. 7. No polycarbonate housing or mounting hardware will be permitted for vehicluar or pedestrian signal head assemblies. All signal heads shall be black aluminum with tunnel visors and backplates. 8. Conduit sizes shall be " minimum unless otherwise specified in plans. 9. As directed by the project engineer, the contractor shall adjust conduit horizontally or vertically to avoid any possible conflicts with the underground utilities. 30. All field wiring shall be neatly bundled and clearly identified with permanent, legible, weatherproof tags that are securely attached to each cable. The tagging system proposed shall be submitted for approval with the other equipment submittals required for this project. 3. All conduit ends are to be sealed with electrical putty when wiring is complete. 3. Three (3) spare wires are required per signal cable. Spares shall be bound and grounded in the cabinet. 33. Spare conduit shall be cleared of any debris and have a pull string which is secured to both ends of conduit. 34. Pay item 663--0: shall be compatible with the City of Palm Coast's Opticom GPS system. 35. Pay item 665--: shall include the cost of furnishing and installing sign FTP-68B-06. 36. Pay item 634-4-5 shall include the installation of a fully-actuated traffic signal. 37. Contact the company providing electrical power to determine if a service processing fee is required. 38. Existing stop signs to be removed when the signal is activated. The existing post and street name signs shall remain in place. Removed signs are to be protected and returned to the City of Palm Coast. 39. Pivotal adjustment hangers are required. 4. The contractor shall use Beldon Type 9438 roadway loop wire or equivalent Type XHHW high density cross-linked polyethylene insulated wire rated 600 volts. 5. All pull box lids will be unsecured by the contractor at the time of traffic signal activation/inspection, and then re-secured by the contractor when the inspection is completed. 6. It should be noted that no test borings were made where conduit runs are to be installed by jacking, directional boring, or trenching. it shall be the contractor's responsibility to examine the job site conditions. 7. The contractor shall verify color codes for signal and interconnect cable with City of Palm Coast before ordering. 8. Three (3) spare conductors shall be run to the furthest pedestrian signal head. 9. Type "F" loops shall be 40 x 6' and extend 5' beyond the stop bar unless otherwise noted in the plans. 0. Pull boxes and covers shall be non-metallic construction and shall include a recessed cover with the words "Traffic Signal".. Whenever possible, all loops shall be cut into the asphaltic concrete structural course prior to placement of the friction course. all loop lead - in cables shall be placed in conduit..
