AIM DEVELOPMENT PROJECT PLANNING PROCESS Starting a project as a designer; you should get: Project Charter Project purpose Summary of Business Case Project Info; program scope, deliverables, acceptance criteria. Project Schedule and Project Budget Project Core Team Sponsor and Stakeholder they sign it. The Project Management Plan is a tool for internal staff to understand the Risks, Communication Plan, and Change Management 4

Business Requirements Design Review: Design Standards Important to success of everyone: Design Review Our standard is a review at 30%, 60%, & 90%, sometimes it varies with complexity. Our newest Design Standard is Life Safety Systems at DEN! 5

Architectural Design Standards 6

Architectural Design Standards 7

MAKING THE Demand-Responsive CAPITAL PLANNING COMMITTEE CUT We build Businesses cases with our Sponsors and Finance, so our business partners understand why projects are necessary to DEN. We now have a list of programs totaling 3.5B = ~800K Great Hall, ~1.5B Expansion, ~200M DEN Real Estate, Technologies, & ~1B our work. Reasons for not making it through the process: 8 Did the Project align with any or all of the 7 Strategic Objectives? Winning the Heart of our Customers (Airlines, concessionaires, passengers ) Investing for Sustainability (Airport Carbon Accreditation certified now) Inspiring our Employees (38,000 and growing) Partnering for Operational Excellence Putting DEN on the World Map Maximizing our Real Estate Excelling at Financial Performance Will the capital investment generate revenues? Will the capital investment have a useful life of more than 20 years? Will the capital investment benefit more than one division at the airport? Will the capital investment move the dial on our Skytrax Ratings?
