About Skills Support for Redundancy Skills Support for Redundancy (SSR) is an EU-funded initiative designed solely to support individuals affected by redundancy. SSR provides free training courses for employees facing redundancy or to those that are redundant to help them gain new skills rebuild their careers. To be eligible for this support, individuals must: Be aged 18 or over Live in the Black Country have been made redundant within the past six months or, be at risk of redundancy or have received notice of redundancy Irrespective of whether an individual is / has been made redundant from a large business, an SME, from the public sector or a registered charity, the focus is on ensuring those affected by redundancy remain economically active through ensuring they have the necessary support to re-enter stay in work. Further, SSR can also support those taking voluntary redundancy. Provision of SSR support is within the pre-redundancy or closure period, where an employer is willing to allow current employees at risk of redundancy to access this support to help them re-enter employment quickly. About the SSR Training Catalogue This document sets out the current suite of SSR provision, managed by Calderdale College. Four sub-contractors are currently delivering SSR provision across the Black Country: * Walsall College* Some of these sub-contractors, marked with an *, also offer apprenticeships that provide further progressions for individuals that participate in SSR. All SSR sub-contractors also provide further in-work training development opportunities for employed individuals through the Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) programme. The Training Catalogue is updated regularly in light of rising dem for SSR provision. Contact details for SSR providers are at the back of this document.
