General Building Approval No. Z-21.4-741 Page 3 of 7 I 28th June 2012 II SPECIAL PROVISIONS 1 Subject of approval and area of application 1.1 Subject of approval The type JZA Jordahl anchor channel made from steel and stainless steel consists of a C-shaped channel with toothing and with at least two welded anchors or clamped compression anchors on the back of the profile and associated hammer head T-bolts with toothing (toothed T-bolt JZS). The anchor channel is set flush with the surface in concrete. Any construction parts can be fastened to the anchor channel. In Appendix 1, the installed anchor channel is shown. 1.2 Area of application The anchor channel may be used for anchoring under predominantly static loading in reinforced or unreinforced normal weight concrete of strength class C20/25 at minimum according to DIN EN 206-1:2001-07 Concrete; Part 1: Specification, performance, production and conformity. The anchor channel may only be used if no requirements are stipulated regarding the fire resistance period of the entire construction including the anchor channels. For anchoring in the tension zone of the concrete generated from load stresses or when utilising the minimum distances of the anchor channels, the local shear load stresses occurring due to explosive effect must be absorbed by additional reinforcement, unless structural measures or other favourable effects (e.g. shear pressure) prevent concrete from splitting. The areas of application of the anchor channels (channel, anchor, T-bolt, nut and washer) with regard to corrosion are to be specified subject to the selected materials in Appendix 4, Table 4. A galvanised anchor channel may only be in conjunction with reinforcement if the temperature at the contact points between the reinforcement and the galvanised steel elements does not exceed 40 C. In pre-stressed concrete components, the distance of a galvanised anchor channel must be at least 2 cm from the cladding tubes of the pre-stressed element or the pre-stressed wire with immediate bonding. 2 Provisions for the building component 2.1 Properties and composition The structural parts of the anchor channels (channel, anchor, T-bolt, nut and washer) must correspond with the drawings and specifications in the appendices. The material properties, dimensions and tolerances of the anchor channels and T- bolts not specified in this General Building Approval must correspond with the specifications provided by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik, the certification authority and the external control authority. Z48507.12 1.21.4-33/12

General Building Approval No. Z-21.4-741 Page 4 of 7 I 28th June 2012 2.2 Production and marking 2.2.1 Production (connection of channel/anchor) The production of the connections (welding, clamping) between the anchor and the channel has to take place at the factory. For welding the weld-on anchors, the gas-shielded welding MAG/MAGM (process 135 according to DIN EN ISO 4063:2000-04) must be used. For connections between stainless steels and low-alloy construction steels, the special provisions of the approval notice Products, connection means and components made of stainless steels (App. No. Z-30.3-6) must be adhered to. The weld seams are to be formed according to Appendix 2. Depending on the requirements defined for the construction, the regulations according to DIN 18800-7:2008-11 or according to DIN EN 1090-2:2011-10 apply, in coordination with the structural engineer and the approval authority, for the design of the weld seams. The compression anchors are inserted and pressed in the factory through a prefabricated hole in the back of the channel. 2.2.2 Marking Every delivery note of the anchor channels and T-bolts must be marked by the manufacturer with the conformity mark (Ü mark) in accordance with the conformity mark regulations of the federal states. In addition, the identifying mark, the approval number and the full name of the anchor channels and T-bolts are to be specified on the delivery note. The marking may only be made if the conditions of Section 2.3 are met. The anchor channel is named after the production type and the rounded profile dimensions JZA K 41/22 (cold-formed/width/height). The hammerhead toothed T-bolt is named after the thread size, e.g. JZS M12x40. Each anchor channel must be marked in accordance with Appendix 4. The T-bolt is to be marked with the identifying mark and the material abbreviation according to Appendix 3. The marking of the hexagon nuts and washers from the materials 1.4529 and 1.4462 is specified in Appendix 3. 2.3 Declaration of conformity 2.3.1 General The confirmation of conformity of the channels and T-bolts with the provisions of this General Building Approval must be carried out for each production plant with a declaration of conformity based on a factory production control and a regular external monitoring including an initial test of the channels and T-bolts in accordance with the following provisions. For the issuance of the declaration of conformity and the external monitoring including the product inspections to be carried out, the manufacturer of the channels and T-bolts has to consult with a recognised certification body and an approved monitoring body. The manufacturer shall hand over the statement that a declaration of conformity is issued by marking the building component with the conformity mark (Ü mark) with a note on the intended use. The certification authority has to provide the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik with a copy of the declaration of conformity they have issued, for information. 2.3.2 Factory production control A production control system is to be set up and operated in each production plant. Factory production control is understood as the continuous monitoring of production that is established by the manufacturer, with which they ensure that the building components the company manufactures comply with the provisions of this General Building Approval. Z48507.12 1.21.4-33/12

General Building Approval No. Z-21.4-741 Page 5 of 7 I 28th June 2012 For the scope, nature and frequency of factory production control, the test plan provided by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik and the external monitoring body shall prevail. The results of factory production control are to be recorded and evaluated. The records must contain at least the following information: Designation of structural product or raw material and components Type of control or testing Date of manufacture and testing of the building component or raw material or components Result of the control and tests and, if applicable, comparison with the requirements Signature of the factory production control managers The records must be kept for at least five years and submitted to the appointed external monitoring body. They are presented to the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik and to the responsible supreme construction supervision authority on demand. 2.3.3 External monitoring The production control system is to be checked in each production plant on a regular basis, but at least twice a year. As part of the external monitoring, an initial test of the anchor channels and T-bolts must be carried out and samples must be taken for random testing. The sampling and tests are subject to the respective accredited monitoring body. For the scope, nature and frequency of the external monitoring, the control plan provided by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik shall prevail. The results of the certification and external monitoring must be kept for at least five years. Upon demand, they have to be presented to the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik and to the responsible supreme construction supervision authority by the certification body or by the monitoring body. 3 Provisions for draft and dimensioning 3.1 Design The anchoring shall be designed by an engineer. Under consideration of the loads to be anchored, verifiable calculations and construction drawings are to be prepared. The construction drawings shall include details on location, size and length of the anchor channels and on the T-bolt type and the size of the corresponding T-bolts. 3.2 Dimensioning 3.2.1 General The anchoring shall be dimensioned by an engineer. The verification of the direct local force application into the concrete is provided. On verification of the anchor channels according to the partial safety concept, the rated value of the resistance FRd up to 1.4 perm. F is determined. The transfer of the loads to be anchored into the component must be verified. The weakening of the concrete section by installing anchor channels is to be considered in static analysis, if necessary. Z48507.12 1.21.4-33/12

I General Building Approval No. Z-21.4-741 Page 6 of 7 I 28th June 2012 A bending stress may only be disregarded where the component to be connected is made of metal and is braced against the channel without an intermediate layer, the hole diameter in the component to be connected does not exceed 14 mm for T-bolt M 12 and 18 mm for T-bolt M 16. Additional stresses that may arise in the anchor channel, in the component to be connected or in the component in which the anchor channel is anchored, from obstructed deformation (e.g. during temperature changes) are to be taken into account. The action of the single load or load pair may take place at any point of the anchor channels. The axis of the T-bolt must be at a distance of at least 2.5 cm from the channel end. The minimum distances (spacing, edge and corner distances) and component dimensions (component width and thickness) according to Appendix 5 may not be undershot. With diagonal tension load 45 and shear load vertically to the edge, a supplementary reinforcement according to the upper image of Appendix 6 is to be arranged for distances from 75 mm to 100 mm. 3.2.2 Permissible loads The permissible loads are specified in Appendix 5 depending on the profile length and stress directions. The channel can be stressed by tension loads, diagonal tension and shear loads, and longitudinal loads parallel to the channel axis 3.2.3 Bending stress of T-bolts The permissible bending moments are specified in Appendix 5. The calculated clamping point is the top edge of the anchor channel. For bending with additional tension load or diagonal tension, the stresses must be superimposed: Fz perm. F (1 - M/perm M.) perm. F = permissible central tension load according to Appendix 5 perm. M = bending moment of the T-bolt according to Appendix 5 Fz = available tension load component M = available bending moment For facade cladding with variable bending stresses (e.g. as a result of temperature change), the tension fluctuation cra =±50 N/mm2 must not be exceeded by the average value crm in relation to the calculated tension cross-section of the T-bolt. 3.2.4 Special case of narrow reinforced concrete components An anchor channel arranged in the front-face of at least 10 cm thick lightly loaded reinforced concrete components (e.g. as facade panels, lightly-loaded traffic walls) may be subjected to permissible tension load according to Appendix 5 when an additional reinforcement is provided in accordance with Appendix 6. 3.2.5 Displacement behaviour Tension load; longitudinal load in channel longitudinal direction: Under permissible load, displacements of 0.5 mm can be expected towards the load: Shear load vertical to the channel longitudinal direction: Under permissible load, displacements of up to 1.5 mm vertically towards the channel longitudinal direction can be expected. If the T-bolts are fitted under load, displacements of up to 0.6 mm can be expected. This value increases to 2.0 mm when the load direction is reversed. Z48507.12 1.21.4 33/12

General Building Approval No. Z-21.4-741 Page 7 of 7 I 28th June 2012 For shear loads, the existing hole clearance between T-bolt and attachment part has to be additionally considered. 4 Provisions for the design 4.1 Installation of anchor channels No anchors may be subsequently fixed nor other changes made to the anchor channel. The installation of the anchor channel must be performed in accordance with the design drawings in Section 3.1. The anchor channels shall be attached to the formwork so that they do not move during reinforcement installation or during pouring and compaction of concrete. The concrete must be compacted properly between the channels and under the head of the anchor. The anchor channels are to be protected against ingress of concrete into the channel profile. 4.2 Mounting the connection structure (T-bolt mounting) The required T-bolt size is to be taken from the design drawings. If, due to incorrect concrete introduction etc., the front edge of the anchor channel is not flush with the concrete surface, this gap must be padded under the entire surface during installation of the connection structure. The heads of the T-bolts, which are inserted into the channel slot, must fully rest on both legs of the anchor channel after a clockwise rotation of 90, snap into the toothing and be locked by tightening the nut with the torque wrench. The tightening torques specified in Appendix 5 must be complied with. After assembly, the correct seat of the T-bolt is to be checked, the marking slots on the shank end of the T-bolt must be transverse to the longitudinal channel direction. The axis distance of the T-bolts may not exceed the specifications in Appendix 5. 4.3 Control of the execution When installing the anchor channels and mounting the T-bolts (fastening of connection structures), the contractor entrusted with installing the anchor channels or the construction manager appointed by them or a proficient representative of the construction manager must be present on site. They are responsible for proper execution of work. In particular, they have to check the design and position of the anchor channels and of the supplementary reinforcement, if present. The records must be readily available during construction on site and they must be submitted to the monitoring officer on demand. The records as well as the delivery notes must be kept by the contractor after completion of the work for at least 5 years. Andreas Kummerow Head of division Z48507.12 1.21.4-33/12
