Summary Position title: Security Classification level: MOA Level 5 Section/Department: Parks and Facility Operations / City Operations Reports to: Asset Protection Coordinator Direct reports: Nil Position Overview The position is responsible for: The coordination, supervision and management of contracted security personnel including uniformed security guards and mobile patrols. The management and monitoring of technical electronic security, access, keying and surveillance systems. The provision of expert/specialist advice, support and assistance to both internal and external stakeholders and customers relating to security programs and projects. Key Relationships / Interactions The is a team member of the Facility Operations Team and is required to have strong working relationships with managers, team leaders, project officers and leading workers within City Operations and other relevant departments as well as with a range of other internal and external partners including property managers, security providers, sporting clubs, community groups and users of our built assets. Position Accountabilities The is responsible for: Work with the Team Leader Facility Operations, Asset Protection Coordinator and other stakeholders to devise efficient and effective security management solutions, procedures and practices. Play a significant role in the investigation and problem solving of complex security management issues. Work under limited direction and exercise a degree of autonomy and decision making relating to operational activities, the negotiation of matters of significance and contracts relating to security, with the aim of achieving team objectives. Assist in establishing goals, objectives and outcomes for work activities and the undertaking of these work activities within budget, quality and timeframes specifications. Assist with the preparation of budgets and coordinate security programs and projects within budgetary constraints. Provide training to relevant employees, volunteers, building users and security call out staff regarding the use of security and access systems and or the management of, and response to alarms and other security matters. Be aware of and develop and utilise new technology, techniques and methodology in providing specialist security services. Supervise and manage significant numbers of contracted security personnel including uniformed security guards, mobile patrols, and security technicians. Develop scope of works for contractors and manage security installations projects. Work with the Facility Services Officers and Major Projects and Community Assets teams to scope, design, cost and install security systems for building and open space projects. Adhere to relevant council policy, procedures and organisational values. Adhere to team rules and Field Operations Values and Behaviours Prepare reports, recommendations and proposals in accordance with legislative requirements and accepted risk management strategies. Manage the collection, storage and analysis of security data. Provide expert/specialist advice, support and assistance to both internal and external stakeholders and customers relating to complex security issues. Selection Criteria Technical Knowledge & Experience Previous experience in security management and implementation of security initiatives. Skills and experience in the design, installation and management of security systems. Skills and experience in the design, installation and management of CCTV (both fixed and covert) and other digital recording systems. Ability to efficiently and effectively resolve security alarm and monitoring issues. Ability to self-manage assigned programs and projects and participate in multi-disciplinary project teams. High level of interpersonal and networking skills in order to encourage information exchange and good working relationships. Knowledge of the principles of integrated security concepts including building access and keying systems. Collaboration & Communication Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and the maintenance of a supportive work environment. Customer Service & Continuous Improvement Demonstrated commitment to customer service and continuous improvement. Corporate Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and use of corporate technology.
