To oversee the development, maintenance and management of the outdoor recreational infrastructure on the Glenlivet Estate (including the Bike Glenlivet centre) in line with best practice. To initiate and undertake projects which assist with the delivery of Crown Estate Scotland s Corporate Plan to promote sustainable economic development of the Glenlivet area, support the area s tourism economy and enhance the commercial, environmental and social infrastructure of the estate and the reputation of Crown Estate Scotland. To work closely with managing agents, tenants, local community groups, the local Development Trust and the Cairngorms National Park Authority to help deliver local decision-making and engagement, supporting the delivery of key stakeholder s objectives and ambitions. Authorities: Operate within the framework of authority agreed by the Head of Property, working through the estate managing agents.

Key Tasks: Customer Management / Visitor Services Manage and provide a high-quality countryside information service on the Glenlivet Estate through the production of a wide variety of information literature, notice boards, displays and interpretive panels. Provide a welcome for visitors, raising awareness and understanding of the importance of the special qualities of the Cairngorms National Park in the context of Glenlivet Estate. Further develop countryside interpretation at the Estate Information Centre and elsewhere on the Glenlivet Estate in line with the Estate development strategy and Cairngorms National Park policy. Build on the development and promotion of educational services for schools, colleges and universities and expand and develop the educational resources /services available for visiting groups and the general public. Work to develop the Estate Environmental Education Programme and organise group visits. Act as a guide for educational groups /other visiting groups as required. Deal efficiently and effectively with information enquiries /queries from Estate tenants and business customers, tourists and visitors and taking appropriate follow up action as required. Provide a range of visitor and educational services including guided walks, presentations and estate tours as required. Ensure that information literature is distributed effectively and is widely available within the Estate and elsewhere as required. Ensure the development of specific information literature to assist with the delivery of information to visitors and tenants relating to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Assist with the development of specific user group information in relation to recreational access. Manage the provision and development of information on the Glenlivet Estate website. Manage social media sites and continually update. Manage the Estate Information Centre and the provision of visitor information services including the maintenance of the Green Tourism Business award and the Visit Scotland Visitor Attraction Award. Infrastructure Management Ensure all visitor facilities and access infrastructure on the Glenlivet Estate are maintained in a safe and well-kept condition and according to high standards of health and safety to minimise hazards for visitors.

Work with estate tenants and the estate managing agents to ensure that access and visitor management on the Glenlivet Estate is integrated effectively with other estate land uses, minimizing conflicts of land use. Initiate the development of new outdoor recreational facilities on the estate as required and as part of compliance with legislation including infrastructure on footpaths / mountain biking trails, car parks and picnic areas and other recreational areas that enable more visitors to enjoy and explore the countryside on the estate and provide facilities/benefits for the local community. Organise administer and co-ordinate access development projects as required. Promote the sustainable use of the estate assets for recreation and enjoyment, that delivers a range of social, economic and environmental objectives. This includes the promotion of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and the management of the promoted path infrastructure. Oversee and organise the management of footpaths and public access on the estate including the erection of signs and waymarkers ensuring that all visitor facilities are developed and maintained in accordance with best practice in the management of countryside access facilities. Organise and supervise volunteer work parties, volunteer rangers, education parties and other groups undertaking visits or work projects on the Glenlivet Estate as required. Undertake low level maintenance work (replacement of signs, waymarkers etc) as required and organise/supervise grass cutting/spraying/painting, fencing and other maintenance contractors as required. Service Development Ensure effective financial and budget management within area of responsibility. Initiate and undertake partnership projects to assist with the implementation of the estate s community involvement and sustainable development strategy. Encourage, support and develop active community involvement in events, activities and projects focussed on their local habitats. Undertake marketing and promotional activities to support tenant s tourism businesses and to help raise the profile of the Glenlivet Estate and the Bike Glenlivet centre. Write and produce newsletters, articles, promotional literature, displays, presentations and other information/promotional literature as required. Initiate and develop cultural, natural heritage, landscape and stewardship projects which enhcance the reputation of Crown Estate Scotland and deliver the objectives of the Rural & Coastal Estate Business Plan.

Work in partnership with the Cairngorms National Park Authority and other ranger services, as required to assist with the implementation of the National Park Plan, and the Cairngorms Nature Plan. Assist with biological survey, monitoring and recording work as required. Specifically to take forward the development of the biodiverstiy recording stystem on the estate in partnership with the local community. Assist with the development of habitat management projects on the estate as required. Work with the Forest Manager to ensure compliance with the UK Woodland Assurance Standard as it applies to the forest assets. Develop wildlife tourism opportunities on the estate and provide and develop wildlife viewing services to attract additional visitors to the area. Staff Management Organise and supervise directly employed staff (Business Assistant and Forestry Ranger) in accordance with perfomance management arrangements Organise and supervise contractors involved in infrastructure development and maintenance. Organise training arrangements and personal development plans and manage directly employed staff in accordance with staff management guidelines Oversee Health & Safety standards of team and ensure all appropriate H&S documentation (risk assessments, CoSHH data, etc) are regularly reviewed and updated as required. Candidate Specification Part One: Essential knowledge, experience and skills Practical experience of the management and maintenance of countryside recreational infrastructure. Experience of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with land managers, agencies, organisations and contractors to deliver partnership initiatives. Proven ability to achieve targets and manage workloads for self. A good knowledge and understanding of countryside management issues and land management practices in the Scottish Highlands. GIS, computer and IT literate. Proven ability to deliver high quality countryside information services and interpretation Experience of partnership working with rural communities. A good knowledge of natural history and the natural heritage of the Highlands of Scotland. Experience of managing people An appropriate qualification, preferably to degree level supported by post qualification experience in a similar role.

Competent in the use of information and communications technology. Strong written, communication and presentation skills.
