Job Description-Support Staff Job Title Responsible to Careers Administrator The Careers Leader Establishment/ Wood Green School, Woodstock Road, Witney OX28 1DX location Review date of July 2018 Job Description Grade/salary Local Government Service Grade 6 Hours/working time Purpose of Post 15 hours a week To work as part of the clerical and administrative support for CEIAG (Careers, Employment and Independent Advice and Guidance) Main Duties and Responsibilities Work Experience and Administrating Database Year 12 Attend the introductory assembly to introduce yourself and answer any immediate questions students may have. Produce and distribute Student Own Placement forms. Log all completed forms and liaise with Head of Sixth Form regarding any high-risk placements. Update tutors on outstanding paperwork on a regular basis. Be available to assist and offer guidance to students who are struggling to find placements. Issue employer feedback forms. Year 11 Produce and issue Student Application and Own Placement Forms Update Careers Lead and tutors on outstanding paperwork on a regular basis Contact companies to request placements. Update the OCC Work Experience Team about work experience database. Liaise with the team at county regarding both new students & leavers. Issue confirmation paperwork to employers with details of the student placed with them. Issue confirmation paperwork to students detailing their placement. Be available to assist and offer guidance to both students and parents during the work experience process. Issue employer/student feedback forms.
Extended Work Placements: Liaise with staff members and be available to assist with the paperwork for extended placements. External Work Experience Placements Liaise both with other schools and with colleges and HOD s regarding students participating in Work Experience at Wood Green. Monitoring Data Destination Data Produce a report for the Education Tracking Officer at OCC with destination data for all Year 11 students three times a year Produce a report regarding the destination data for all Year 13 students and any students who leave at the end of Year 12. Produce a report for the Headteacher showing student destinations Parent/Carer CAIEG Database Update and Maintain Parent/Carer CEIAG Support Database Careers Passport Keep a Careers passport for all students within Wood Green detailing all careers encounters and experiences. West Oxfordshire Learning Partnership Events Help organise, run and publicise the WOLP Apprenticeship Event and the Joint Schools Careers Event, including attending planning meetings offsite. Arranging Appointments with School Independent Careers Advisor Liaise with the advisor to arrange Adviza Assemblies. Arrange / liaise with the Sixth Form to arrange World of Work Sessions for Year 12. Obtain Pupil Premium data and prioritize Adviza appointments for these students. Photocopy and distribute Adviza questionnaires to Year 11 tutors. Log responses and feedback. Advise when appointments are and issues appointment cards to students. Be available to assist with the independent Careers Advisor with the day to day running of his appointments and arrange for replacement appointments to be made to cover student sickness.
Morrisby Liaise with Morrisby to arrange a mutually convenient time for them to come into school to carry out the Morrisby test. Advertise the test to both parents and students and make all relevant paperwork available. Updating the Careers Section of the School Website Update the Careers section of the website. Advertise: -Upcoming Careers Events -Apprenticeship Opportunities -Job Vacancies -Weekly Apprenticeship / Volunteering bulletin compiled by the Employment Education and Training Team. Miscellaneous Attend meetings as required in school and liaise with employers to arrange meetings, book rooms and organise refreshments Advertise events / opportunities to students via the tutor group morning power points. Maintain the Careers noticeboard in the main corridor and forward details of all relevant events to the Sixth Form coordinator.

Person Specification: Careers Co-ordinator Criteria Essential Desirable Education and Qualifications Knowledge and Experience GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths High level administrative and organisational skills Skills and Ability The ability to communicate and consult effectively with staff, students and parents/carers as necessary Experience of working in education and data Excellent IT skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn and to operate all relevant school computer systems Possesses high level of attention to detail Able to work accurately and to deadlines Ability to remain calm, cheerful and in control of a variety of situations, particularly when under pressure, adjusting routines if necessary to meet priorities Ability to organise time and workload effectively Full UK Driving Licence Personal Characteristics Flexibility A sense of humour Efficient and pleasant manner when dealing with people Good team player
