3 April 2017 Dear Applicant, Welcome to Hull Trinity House Academy and thank you for showing interest in our academy. We are an academy that offers a modern education whilst at the same time maintaining, emphasising and celebrating our school s 200 year nautical heritage. Our school is an Academy for boys. We are a part of the Delta Academies Trust and currently have 530 students. The academy is situated in the very heart of Hull City Centre. We are oversubscribed but our admissions criteria ensure that we remain true to our origins by allowing access to students regardless of their ability or background. We are a truly inclusive academy and continue to appropriately adapt to our changing cultural, social and diverse intake. The academy is unique, steeped in history and tradition and has an outstanding reputation both locally and beyond the City of Hull. Trinity House is an integral part of Kingston upon Hull s history. We have a very supportive parent body and the academy s Governors are committed to ensuring that the academy standards and expectations are maintained. Our vision is ambitious and inspirational and is about every person being the very best they can be. I see this ambitious and aspirational culture permeating every part of school life, and driving education in every sense of the word. This is only achieved through the hard work and commitment of every member of staff. I want every teacher to be passionate about their own subject, so that every curriculum area of the school is unique, vibrant, owned by its staff and a place where you and the children want to be. As a member of the Delta Academies Trust, our academy benefits from partnership with other academies that form Delta. Working at Hull Trinity House Academy is both demanding and rewarding. The academy requires staff that are flexible and appreciative of the issues that are specific to a small academy. The academy is fortunate to be fully staffed and when vacancies do arise, it is always assured of a good level of interest and applications from high calibre people. The current staffing of the academy shows a good balance of gender and age. In September 2013, we moved onto a fully refurbished new site. 4 Introduction Delta Academies Trust is a not for profit charitable organisation that is committed to changing outcomes for children in the academies it sponsors and the wider education system. We are a teaching school, training teachers, school leaders and other professionals who work with children. Delta Academies Trust firmly believes that an outstanding education should be the right of every child and should not be determined by a post code lottery. The Trust will strive to ensure that all pupils and students in our academies attend an outstanding school. We are determined that local children can attend a local school and we will place those children who need extra help first in our admissions policy. 8 Receptionist 24 hours per week/ Term time only Salary: Grade B Point ,613-15,807 pro rata To start ASAP We are seeking to appoint a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Receptionist to join our Academy for 24 hours per week. This position is term time only for three days per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or similar qualification and will have experience of working in a busy office, preferably in a school environment. Good interpersonal and communication skills, a friendly manner and a flexible approach, along with excellent Maths and English are essential. 9 Job Description Post: Salary: Responsible to: Receptionist Grade B (Pt.10-11) Office Manager Purpose of the job: To be the first point of contact for parents and visitors, by telephone and in person, ensuring information flows are accurate and effective. To deal with incoming and outgoing post as well as assisting with other general office duties. Duties & responsibilities: To provide a welcoming environment for parents, visitors and students to the academy and assist them in locating other staff or areas of the building; To maintain an accurate signing in record and issue security badges for all visitors to the academy; To provide information to visitors either verbally or paper based; To operate the academy s telephone system in a manner which is at all times, welcoming, efficient, effective and accurately informed; To keep abreast of developments within the academy to ensure accurate information is given out at all times; To ensure that letters, telephone messages, s and faxes received at reception are forwarded to staff by the most efficient method; To operate internal communication systems efficiently and effectively; To process incoming and outgoing mail, liaising with Royal Mail, or other mail distributors, to ensure continuity of service; To organise the freighting of parcels/packages and complete appropriate documentation; To ensure postal supplies are maintained and ordered as necessary; To ensure the franking machine is in credit at all times; To provide a fast and reliable laminating service to the whole academy; To monitor levels of stationary supplies and order stock as required; To check the accuracy of supplies when it is delivered; To maintain a database of enquirers and send out information about the academy; To undertake word processing, photocopying, fax and filing duties as requested by the Office Manager; To ensure that the photocopier and fax are maintained, ready for use e.g. loaded with paper on a regular basis; To report photocopier and fax machine faults and monitoring progress to ensure that they are back in working order as quickly as possible; To update and issue the internal telephone list as required; To keep the pigeon hole system up to date, inserting new ones for new staff and clearing down leavers; To organise and maintain the working area of reception; 9

10 To be responsible for ensuring the foyer is welcoming, organised and up to date with current brochures and notices; To assist with arrangements for transportation of students to and from the academy; To process all Vivo requests by students; To provide support to the Senior Leadership Team as requested; To assist with the organisation of Academy events; To assist with student first aid and welfare duties; To work flexibly, including contributing to the academy s projects of a general nature and providing cover for other office staff; To participate in staff appraisals and training programmes as required; To carry out duties at all times with due regard to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and other academy and Trust policies; To undertake other reasonable duties (with competence and experience) as requested, in accordance with the changing needs of the organisation.
