NEW INVESTMENT: GREEN ENERGY BIOFUELS LTD. Founded in 2012, Green Energy Biofuels Ltd. is one of Africa s fastest-growing clean cooking businesses. The company produces, manufactures and distributes innovative, ethanol-burning cookstoves and a proprietary biofuel gel, made from converted sawdust and hyacinth biomass, for low-income customers in Nigeria. We are excited about the company because it is addressing two needs at once: providing an improved cookstove that emits less smoke, and providing a fuel source that is both affordable and made from renewable sources. REGION West Africa SECTOR Energy

INVESTMENT 800K Green Energy Biofuels will use Acumen s investment to purchase raw materials and build additional refinery and storage facilities to support increased production to better meet customer demand. WHY IT MATTERS PREFERRED EQUITY 5.1M USD REVENUE IN 2015 Although there is progress, globally, in providing highquality, clean and affordable cookstoves for low-income customers, the problem of sourcing and selling cheap, alternative environmentally-friendly fuel sources to power them has remained largely unaddressed. Until now. 2 ONE BOARD DIRECTOR AND ONE OBSERVER SEAT 2

THE PROBLEM + Nearly three billion people worldwide do not have access to clean stoves for cooking and have to rely on traditional or biomass fuels made from organic materials like wood, charcoal or animal waste. + In Nigeria alone, more than 40 percent of urban households and 90% of rural households still depend on biomass fuel for their cooking. + Traditional stoves are inefficient at converting fuel to heat, and they produce harmful smoke that leads to respiratory problems and to millions of deaths a year. THE INNOVATION + Green Energy Biofuels has developed a safe, fuel alternative ethanol cooking gel for low-income customers. + The biofuel gel, or biogel, is made from sawdust and hyacinth waste. It burns efficiently and cleanly, and is sold at a low cost. + In addition to manufacturing and selling the biogel, Green Energy Biofuels distributes an innovative, stainless steel, smoke-free cookstove that is affordable for low-income customers and uniquely designed to be portable and used on any surface. + For low-income customers who do manage to cook safely using efficient cookstoves, access to clean, affordable and renewable fuel sources is limited at best. + Both the cookstove and biogel can be purchased together at local markets or near low-income communitieshelping them spend less on fuel. + Together, the clean cookstove and biogel significantly reduce indoor air pollution for households while also helping them spend less on fuel. 3

IMPACT TARGETS POVERTY FOCUS 95% of GEB s customers earn less than $4/day. BREADTH 5M lives impacted over the next five years. DEPTH 40% in savings per household on fuel expenses. 4

2016 ANTICIPATED MILESTONES Operations + Install three new refineries in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, Nigeria + Train new sales staff and contract additional points of distribution in strategic locations Manufacturing + Build a centralized 10,000 liter-production biogel manufacturing plant + Procure new processing machinery + Improve automation capabilities along the manufacturing line to increase efficiency Product + Pilot test new gels using different biomass organic materials 5
