The School St Luke's Anglican School is a co-educational day school located in Bundaberg, Queensland. Founded in 1994, the School educates over 860 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and has a strong reputation for academic excellence, fostering spirituality and the development of each student's full potential. The School employs 125 full-time, part-time and casual staff, covering all School functions including academic, co-curricular, administration and support services. Professional development and wellbeing of the staff are both important to the culture of the School. Child Protection Statement of Commitment Anglican schools support the rights of children and young people and are committed to ensuring the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of students. Anglican schools are therefore committed to responding to allegations of student harm resulting from the conduct or actions of any person including that of employees. This commitment includes the provision of a safe and supportive living and learning environment for all students and requires all employees, volunteers, and visitors to model and encourage behaviour that upholds the dignity and protection of students from harm. Given our commitment to child protection, all teachers employed by St Luke s must be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers prior to appointment. This registration must be fully maintained. Queensland teachers are exempt from requiring a Working with Children Check (Blue Card), however as part of the recruitment process teachers will be subject to checks through the Anglican Schools Commission. All non-teaching staff invariable interact with children on a regular basis. Many have direct supervisory and support duties which are identified in their position descriptions. All non-teaching staff (ie. administrative, support, facilities and ancillary) must undergo a Working with Children Check and maintain a positive notice and Blue Card. Position Vacant Accountant Full-time, permanent position Classification: Level 6 Position Summary The Accountant is responsible for providing professional accounting support to assist the Business Manager in delivering excellence in financial management to the School and Early Learning Centre consistent with its strategic and operational objectives. This role involves the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual management and statutory financial reporting. In addition, the Accountant will assist with the preparation and operation of school budgets, and perform ad hoc project work inclusive of financial feasibilities studies that are targeted to realise opportunities to consistently develop and improve the organisation.

The Accountant also supports the timely processing of Payroll, and oversees the day to day operation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Applicants should address the following criteria in their application SC1 SC2 SC3 SC4 SC5 Eligible to work in Australia, with relevant tertiary qualification (preferably CPA or CA certification or studying towards), and significant accounting or financial experience in a complex medium sized business operation. High level proficiency in the preparation and analysis of regular management and statutory financial reporting. Ability to support the timely processing of Payroll, and oversee the day to day operation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Excellent leadership, organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise competing demands. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and establish professional strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Competencies and Characteristics Essential A minimum of five years previous experience in accounting or finance in a complex medium sized business. Experience in the analysis and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounting and statutory reporting. Experience in payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Established skills in the use and improvement of computerised accounting and payroll systems. Experience in budgeting development, analysis and reporting. ROLE STATEMENT Accountant Position Summary The Accountant is responsible for providing professional accounting support to assist the Business Manager in delivering excellence in financial management to the School and Early Learning Centre consistent with its strategic and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities Technical Skills and Application Preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statements for management, governance and government reporting requirements; Assist the Business Manager with preparation and operation of School budgets, producing reports as requested; Monitor expenditure against a budget at department level, draft financial forecasts/budgets at organisational level and/or prepare complex financial reports; Preparation of the school budget, oversee quarterly BAS statements and prepare the annual FBT return; Under the direction of the Business Manager, develop and implement effective cash management budgeting and monitoring processes to maximise the School s financial resources; Provide financial or policy advice and investigate or evaluate information for the guidance of staff or parents; Liaise with external auditors to ensure the annual financial audit is completed in an efficient and effective manner; Assess, initiate and implement systems and procedures to meet audit requirements; Manage the fixed asset capitalisation process and fixed asset register; Perform aspects of grant administration, annual review of insurances, compliance and monthly general ledger reconciliations; Manage AR, AP and Payroll staff to ensure accuracy and timely completion of tasks including end of month reconciliations and reports; Oversee and assist the timely processing of Payroll, with the support of the Payroll Officer, ensuring staff payments are accurate and appropriately documented, including remaining current with relevant Enterprise Bargaining Agreements; Supervision of debtors, fees administration and assists in recovery of outstanding accounts; Supervision of creditors and expenditure payments; Undertake project work, including financial feasibility, as identified by the Business Manager and/or Principal; Assists in development and improved utilisation of TASS financial reporting modules;

ROLE STATEMENT Develop and implement new procedures to streamline/automate data collection and information processing; Provide budgets for School events including Musicals, Year 12 formal and other events such as Celebration night; Financial management of staff and student co-curricular activities; Manage all finance policies, systems and procedures; Management of discounts, bursaries & scholarship process; Meet all financial, statutory and related compliance requirements; and Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel. General Foster a committed, efficient and goal driven work environment within the Finance team which includes the Accounts Payable Officer, Accounts Receivable Officer and Payroll Officer.
