1. Indicate your contact information as well as the type of audit you plan to. Authorization In return for use of the tool, CERISE requests FIs to share results, so we can build benchmarks, provide users with a peer-group analysis. In the past, the vast majority of FIs shared their results, unless it was purely test or light self-assessment with little effort made to have solid results. If you do NOT agree to share the information with CERISE on a confidential basis, you have to tick the box. If you do NOT agree to share the information with the MIX, you have to tick the box. If you agree, CERISE will send the report to have your social profile updated on the MIX.

2. Adapt to your mission focus or Choose an external reporting option: By default, the core questionnaire (Universal Standards, client protection, results) is selected You may choose Additional focus: you can add indicators related to Poverty, Gender, Green or to compare with previous SPI3 results. Reduced scorecard: you only answer a selection of filtered indicators (as of Sept 2014, to report to Opportunity International) Once the relevant lens(es) are selected, click on the button on the bottom of the page to set-up the questionnaire

3. Import from other tools: You can upload the scores of Smart Assessments, data from MIX (profile update and annual form) or ADA/BRS Microfinance Factsheet to pre-fill the related sections in SPI4 Click on the relevant button and follow instructions. NOTE: ADA/BRS Factsheet and MIX import functionality are still under development as of September 2014 (version 1.1.0)

The right part of the Welcome Page allows you to navigate in the tool. 4. Fill in the information click on these buttons to go to Organization Information: profile data and indicators on the results Questionnaire: indicators on the practices from the Universal standards and optionnal lenses 5. See the results click on these buttons to see the different reports generated based on information filled in in the Org Info and Questionnaire. The Social Dashboard has also additionnal tables and graphs depending on the lenses. The Green Index and SPI3 report are fully generated if you have selected the respective lenses.

ORGANIZATION INFORMATION

The Results Indicators section gathers operational data, in volume and numbers. Please note that all cells in blue are automatically calculated based on your inputs in the white cells (see example below) Click on Tip! for definitions and explanations

The ORGANIZATION INFORMATION section includes: General Information on your institution, with key data to enable peer group analysis, based on MIX groups. The Monetary context is provided thanks to a database from the World Bank with data until 2013. In the Social Objectives section, inform your social mission and key social objectives. Note that the MIX advise to select a maximum of 5 objectives in the list. In the Target Market section, inform your main target clients. Note that the MIX advise to select a maximum of 3 targets in the list. The Organization section aims at clarifying the institution s governance structure, distribution of branches, and staff composition.

The ORGANIZATION INFORMATION section includes: In the section Products and services, detail the various financial and non financial products and services offered to your clients In the Clients section, inform the client composition of the institution In the section Portfolio composition, provide details on your loan portfolio, deposits portfolio if your institution offers savings, and information on the loan pricing In the section Financial information, provide the main financial ratios for the reporting year Sections linked to Optional lenses may appear at the bottom of the page should you have selected the corresponding lenses in the Welcome Page

If needed in the pricing, you can go to the APR estimation module: allows you to estimate your average Annual Percentage Rate More precise guidance on how to fill this module is available here

QUESTIONNAIRE

The upper part of the questionnaire provides you with quick links to jump from one dimension to another, and direct access to the available reports. It also features a progress tracking system (in red below) that tells you how many indicators you have already completed.

SPI4 is divided in 5 different levels: The questionnaire is organized into six different dimensions. This is the highest level. Standards are simple definitions of what the institution should achieve. Essential Practices are the management practices that the institution must implement in order to meet the standard. One or more indicators per Essential Practice, which an institution can use to assess whether it has implemented the practice. If there is no detail level underneath, your input will be at this level. If the Indicator level is too general and needs additional information, those additional subindicators will be indicated under Detail. In this case, your input will be at the Detail level.

If your input is required at the Indicator level: For each indicator, select the relevant answer by clicking on Select Yes if you are formally and totally implementing this practice in your organization. Select Partially if you are implementing only part of the practice, or if this is not formalized. Select No if you are not implementing this practice at all.

Please note that for a small number of indicators, you will also be able to select n/a as an answer. n/a can only be selected if the corresponding indicator does not apply at all to the institution. In the example below : you may choose n/a in the case where there is no credit bureau in the country and the organization does not use group lending.

If your input is required at the Detail level: For each detail point, select the relevant answer by clicking on Select Yes if this aspect is valid for your organization Select No if this aspect is not implemented

Under a small number of detail points, further input may be required. Add an x where relevant

On the right side of the questionnaire, a column allows you to give more insight on how your organization implements the corresponding practice, provide comments and clarifications. This information is crucial for an accurate analysis of the indicator and should be completed as much as possible: example, reference to documents, details, or, on the contrary, missing information, lack of confidence that explain a no answer.

REPORTS

With the data provided in the Organization Information section, a Social Dashboard is automatically generated. This Dashboard visually represents key social indicators and ratios. This Dashboard allows you to track key social performance indicators to communicate internally (e.g. SPM committee, Board) or with external partners (e.g. investors, networks) using a common language.

Based on your answers in the questionnaire, two reports on the Universal Standards are automatically generated The first gives a score out of 100 for all Dimensions, Standards and Essential Practices

The second report on the Universal Standards presents results graphically

To encourage transparency and reduce reporting burden, SPI4 also generates a MIX Report based on data from the Organization Information and the Questionnaire. This report is fully aligned with current MIX indicators, and can thus be used to facilitate your SP reporting to the MIX Market. You can send your SPI4 to CERISE with authorization to share with the MIX and the report will be shared with MIX for updating your profile. Soon, an automatic reporting will allow complete connection between SPI4 and the Mix Reporting Express

SPI4 also generates two Smart Assessment reports based on your input in the questionnaire. The scoring methodology is the same as the one used in the Smart Campaign Getting Started Questionnaire and Certification framework. The first report details in a table the score your institution got for each standard

The second report displays a radar graph presenting a full picture for client protection, as well as the graphs for each of the 7 principles

If you initially selected the green lens and filled in this dimension in the questionnaire, you will have a Green Index Report
