Marketing and Communications Coordinator Knock Knock Children s Museum Baton Rouge, Louisiana February 5, 2018 Description: Knock Knock Children s Museum (KKCM) is seeking a qualified applicant to be a full-time Marketing and Communications Coordinator. This position will assist the Director of Marketing in leading communications, publicity, branding, marketing, and external media relations for the children s museum. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will wear many hats while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. With leadership from the Director of Marketing, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing marketing projects that support the continued growth of museum attendance, membership, development and education programming. In addition, he/she will be responsible for the long-term management of the Knock Knock Membership Program. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field, experience building a membership program, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays. The Coordinator should be creative, detailed oriented, organized, self-motivated and most importantly, passionate about Knock Knock s mission. The potential candidate must have an intimate understanding of traditional and digital marketing channels combined with exceptional project management and planning skills. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator position requires an extreme attention to detail and accuracy as well as an ability to multi-task and manage multiple objectives. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will report to the Director of Marketing and will work closely with the Knock Knock Directors Team, all members of KKCM administration and staff as well as volunteer leadership. Responsibilities: Implement strategic marketing tactics in order to continue growth of earned and contributed income, attract and retain existing members, support educational programming and build community outreach initiatives; Ensure that all marketing and membership development strategies are executed according to plan, on time and on budget; Work with cross-functional teams to maintain and update KKCM website; Support the execution of planned web, SEO/SEM, email, social media and display advertising campaigns; Assist in managing social media presence for the organization, which includes writing and posting content as well as building digital asset library; Assist in data collection and reporting of key performance indicators specific to marketing and membership; Maintain and manage the consistent use of Knock Knock s brand across all external communications; Work closely with community partners to cultivate community relations, including editors, broadcasters, and writers, etc.; Maintain an accurate and up to date media database and create and distribute timely press releases; Lead internal marketing project management including the coordination of all marketing contractors not limited to graphic designers, printers, advertising agency partners, photographers, videographers and web developers; Work closely with KKCM s Database Coordinator to manage and maintain accurate membership database
(Altru) records and coordinate targeted member communications for individuals, businesses and organizations; Coordinate and lead project management associated with all aspects of the organization s membership programs, including recruitment, retention and fulfillment efforts, and all database entry and communication; Assist in the execution of events and communications targeted to donors, members, volunteers and stakeholders; Assist Marketing Special Events Team in all aspects of event coordination including but not limited to active participation and project management associated with the promotion of KKCM hosted internal events, external client events, community outreach and development events. Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree required, advanced degree preferred; 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, public relations, journalism, development or another related field (preferably with a non-profit, museum, or cultural institution); Working knowledge of and experience with the use of database management systems (preferably Altru or other Blackbaud database program) and with the production of data queries, reports, and forms; Experience using Basecamp project management software; Flexible, team player that excels within a strength-based culture and is excited to join an agile and talented team of museum professionals; Graphic design experience required; Capabilities to use Photoshop, InDesign, Web flow, Hootsuite, Facebook Ad Manager, Instagram,YouTube and Snapchat; Exceptional written and oral communication abilities; and An ability to establish working relationships with board and committee volunteer members, colleagues, journalists, and donors alike. About Knock Knock Children s Museum: Knock Knock Children s Museum is an inclusive gathering place where families and children of all backgrounds and experiences will interact. The children s museum itself is an approximately 26,000 square foot facility located in City-Brooks Community Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Its prime location on 6 acres of existing parkland was selected to afford access to all communities within Baton Rouge and surrounding nine-parish area. Knock Knock Children s Museum is comprised of hands-on, interactive exhibits called Learning Zones. Anchored in research and evidence based practices addressing all areas of development, the Learning Zones are designed to create teachable moments that will connect children s every day experiences to learning. Knock Knock s focus is on the development of the whole child with the goal of increasing early literacy skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) while expanding knowledge and raising interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) subjects and careers, especially among children from under-served and under-represented populations.
Knock Knock will: - Exceed an annual attendance of 200,000 visitors; Serve children, birth through age 8, and their families; Directly serve children and families living in nine-parish Capital Region; Provide high-quality early learning experiences for an expanding population of children living in under-resourced environments; Help close the knowledge and early childhood education gap; Operate on an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million with 40% being attributed to contributed income.
