Would CA-6 be comparable to the FA-5 under the flagstone? Yes, CA-6 for levelling course is correct. 2. Will all of the vegetation be removed in the work zone excluding the large trees (bushes) will want to excavate from the top of the retaining wall? The route of the wall has been altered somewhat, this was going to be addressed in the form of an addendum. We have decided to partially remove the upper legs of the existing timber wall at sections A-E. Essentially, we are offsetting those portions 2 out from the existing Page 1 of 2
Champaign Park District Trevett Finch Retaining Wall Bid timber wall. The westernmost portion will be removed entirely as they are most in conflict with the root zones. Sections F & G will be inboard of the new wall. We would like to keep as much of the forward most yew hedge as possible---apart of course, from where the sidewalk addition may go. If greater access is needed we can yew hedge reconsider. 3. Will there need to be a footing under the curb in ALT. #2? Yes, that will need to clarified in the addendum, I will provide a detail (typical compacted gravel base). 4. Will the concrete demo in ALT #1 be done by (CPD) or by contractor? The concrete spur demo will be done by CPD, to include plant removal and rough grading within the existing planting bed (S-W of existing swale). A 10 x 18 corrugated pipe and a rock base to maintain drainage under sidewalk extension should be part of your bid. 5. As close as some of the trees are to the excavation even if caution is taken and the trees become harmed is it the responsibility of the contractor (some roots will be damaged digging inside of the drip line)? Obviously, we want to be as careful as possible to protect the root zones of the existing trees. As you will see in the drawing, the wall on the west side has been shortened as compared to the existing wall. We have spec d pile footings for section F that is quite close to the Norway maple.
