Champaign Park District Trevett Finch Retaining Wall Bid ADDENDUM 1 (2/27/18) Modifications have been made to the original bid packet, these changes are listed below and in the drawings provided (L1,, & L3). Items that have been removed are indicated with a strikethrough. All new additions are indicated as underlined text. One additional drawing (L3) is included with this packet. The originally scheduled bid opening on 3/2/18 at 2:00PM has been changed to Monday, 3/5/18 at 10:00AM. An optional pre-bid meeting will be held on 3/2/18 at 3:00PM. 3.2 WORK DEFINITION 3.2.1 Provide all labor, materials and supervision for installation of CIP retaining wall, sidewalk extension and/or curb. 3.2.2 Site work to be confined within District s south and west property boundary edge and existing sidewalks. No work or equipment is permitted outside of defined area. 3.2.3 Please note changes to route of proposed CIP retaining wall (L3). Wall offset 2 from center of existing timber frame wall to center of new CIP wall. 3.2.4 Alternate 1 bid should include restoration of existing drainage swale to include 10 x18 corrugated pipe and rock base. 3.2.5 Alternate 1 grading should follow, as permissible, current elevation within planting bed and meet grade at existing sidewalk. 3.2.6 Contractor to provided CA-7 gravel for backfilling of new wall. 3.2.7 Contractor to provide soil for backfill and rough rough grade. 3.3 SITE PREPARATION 3.3.1 District to remove existing timber retaining wall and non-salvageable existing vegetation. 3.3.1 District to remove upper level of existing timber retaining wall (at Sections A-D, see L3) and nonsalvageable existing vegetation sections G & F to be removed entirely. 3.3.2 Owner will provide contractor with a rough location/layout plan. Contractor is responsible for staking out the project. Work shall not begin in an area until staking is completed and approved by owner. 3.3.4 Contractor to erect construction and tree protection fence as shown on /5 prior to start of work. Construction/tree protection fence to remain during construction process. District to periodically inspect. 3.3.5 Contractor to practice stormwater and erosion best practices, including utilizing catch basin protection and concrete washout areas as necessary. 3.3.6 During the entire course of work, the site shall be kept in a clean state. All excess debris and rubbish shall be disposed of off the site unless otherwise directed by the District. Q&A: Questions from prospective bidders: 1. Would CA-6 be comparable to the FA-5 under the flagstone? Yes, CA-6 for levelling course is correct. 2. Will all of the vegetation be removed in the work zone excluding the large trees (bushes) will want to excavate from the top of the retaining wall? The route of the wall has been altered somewhat, this was going to be addressed in the form of an addendum. We have decided to partially remove the upper legs of the existing timber wall at sections A-E. Essentially, we are offsetting those portions 2 out from the existing Page 1 of 2

Champaign Park District Trevett Finch Retaining Wall Bid timber wall. The westernmost portion will be removed entirely as they are most in conflict with the root zones. Sections F & G will be inboard of the new wall. We would like to keep as much of the forward most yew hedge as possible---apart of course, from where the sidewalk addition may go. If greater access is needed we can yew hedge reconsider. 3. Will there need to be a footing under the curb in ALT. #2? Yes, that will need to clarified in the addendum, I will provide a detail (typical compacted gravel base). 4. Will the concrete demo in ALT #1 be done by (CPD) or by contractor? The concrete spur demo will be done by CPD, to include plant removal and rough grading within the existing planting bed (S-W of existing swale). A 10 x 18 corrugated pipe and a rock base to maintain drainage under sidewalk extension should be part of your bid. 5. As close as some of the trees are to the excavation even if caution is taken and the trees become harmed is it the responsibility of the contractor (some roots will be damaged digging inside of the drip line)? Obviously, we want to be as careful as possible to protect the root zones of the existing trees. As you will see in the drawing, the wall on the west side has been shortened as compared to the existing wall. We have spec d pile footings for section F that is quite close to the Norway maple.
