10 Access Total Asphalted road network 14,093 Km Main roads 4,867 International roads 3,647 Secondary roads 3,113 Rural Roads 2,466 Motorable tracks 44,150 Paved roads constitute 24% of total road network Most of secondary and tertiary roads are in poor conditions 28 % of households have access to all-weather paved roads. Provision of roads of appropriate standards is very challenging MPWH is addressing access problems through RAP

23 The Rural Access Program Commitment Strong commitment to preserve the environment, historic and cultural sites Good relationship with the community, SFA SFA, Agreement with rural community Assist RAP in avoiding or minimizing negative environmental and social impacts Land acquisition and/or Building demolition impacts, minimized or avoided Compensation in accordance with Yemeni law, traditions or in kind. Solve problems may arise during implementation with local communities, government agencies and local councils Avoid disturbance to graveyard, cultural and historic sites
