1 200 WASHINGTON COMMERCIAL SEED LOT TRIAL Cooperators: WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY Departments of Horticulture/Landscape Architecture, Plant Pathology & Cooperative Extension WASHINGTON STATE POTATO COMMISSION WASHINGTON STATE POTATO FOUNDATION WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE KEY TO FLAGS LEAFROLL: BLACKLEG: MOSAIC: Orange Flag Red Flag Yellow Flag (see description below in comment section) WHITE FLAGS (code to abbreviations) Cal: Calico Chem: Seed-borne herbicide/chemical damage PLO: Phytoplasma such as Witches broom, Haywire, Purple Top, BLTVA VM, OT, OV: Variety Mix, Off-Type, Off-Type Variety Cool, wet weather during late spring compromised emergence in the late planted seed lots (4/20 5/4). In these seed lots you will see many weak plants and gaps from non-emergence. Comments: Variety, seed grower, and source (state) is provided solely by the seed receiver. We transfer that information to this book and save the original tags. Please contact Mark Pavek with any concerns or changes. There should be a plant every 0-2 inches. Exceptions: seed tubers too large for planter, or plant did not emerge. You may dig for seed pieces. Plants were VISUALLY read, unless otherwise indicated. MOSAIC does not necessarily mean the plant has PVY; rather, it is expressing symptoms that are commonly associated with PVY infection. It is likely, however, that those plants flagged with mosaic flags are infected with PVY. Moreover, PVY was confirmed in some flagged plants via an in-field test kit. 0+ indicates more than 0 plants in particular seed lot were affected within a specific category. In seed lots with 0+ infected plants, NOT ALL PLANTS WERE FLAGGED when displaying symptoms. Additional copies may be obtained from the Washington State Potato Commission, 08 Interlake RD, Moses Lake, WA 98837, (509) ; or from Dr. Mark Pavek, Washington State University, PO Box 64644, Pullman, WA ; (509) Electronic copies will also be available at potatoes.wsu.edu.
