Planning for DUS Test of rice Ngo Thi Thanh Van
DUS Division in NCPT Planning Test Report Agreed by NCPT and Station through discussion Work plan for trial Cultivation -Designation of trial -Cultivation Assessment Report - distinctness -uniformity -stability
Planning Receiving application for DUS Test input data to database export the data to Vanlam Station.
Planning Primary grouping variety: Candidate varieties Indica Japonica Rice Sticky rice Hybrid rice Listing of candidate varieties and transfer varieties to Vanlam Station.
Selection similar varieties in data base. - Vanlam Station Import application into data base. - Checking characteristics of the candidate variety
Grouping characteristics Leaf: anthocyanin coloration of auricles (characteristic 9) Time of heading (characteristic 19) Stem: length (excluding panicle) (characteristic 26) Spikelet: color of tip of lemma (characteristic 37) Lemma: color (characteristic 46) Grain: length (characteristic 54) Grain: width (characteristic 55) Decorticated grain: length (characteristic 58) Decorticated grain: color (characteristic 61) Decorticated grain: aroma (characteristic 65)
Selection of similar varieties in data base The Result of DUS test many years Information from local varieties, popular varieties, protected varieties. Information from Standard sample Number varieties of data base: 500 Number varieties of excel data: 900
Compare candidate varieties and similar varieties in data base
Decide the similar variety
Designation of trial List of candidate and similar varieties will be arrange reasonable. Selecting experiment plots. Planting candidate and similar varieties one by one follow arrangement above.
Cultivation Base on reason condition to determine seedling and planting date. Supplementing fertilizer and water all during growth. Always check insect, disease and weed.
Assessment in the filed Different characteristic should be evaluated appropriate stage Assessment on two replication. Observation and Measurement of characteristics To take photo some characteristics in the filed. Examining for D.U.S Discussing assessment result
Assessment in the Room Some characteristics have to observe or measure in the room such as: Grain length, Grain width, Decorticated grain length, Decorticated grain width.
Report DUS report the first reason DUS final report
Examine of Distinctness + A variety may be considered to be clearly distinguishable if the difference in the characteristics is consistent and clear. + Qualitative (QL) Pseudo-qualitative (PQ) characteristics There is a clearly difference which is genetically appeared (not affected by environmental conditions). QL; The difference between two varieties may be considered clear if expressions fall into two different states. PQ; A different state may not be sufficient to establish distinctness. However, in certain circumstances, varieties described by the same state of expression may be clearly distinguishable.
Examine of Distinctness +Quantitative (QN) characteristics a difference of two Notes often represents a clear difference, but that is not an absolute standard for assessment of distinctness. There is a larger difference between mean values of compared varieties than the distance between notes. -(mean value of candidate var.) (mean value of similar var.) > distance => Distinct. -(mean value of candidate var.) (mean value of similar var.) <distance =>Not Distinct.
CẶP SỐ 8 (AN DÂN 11 ĐT37) ĐT37 AN DÂN 11 ĐT37 AN DÂN 11
Examine of Uniformity + Based on the No of Off-type plant - QL/PQ characteristics There is a clearly difference which is genetically appeared (not affected by the environmental conditions and/or pests). - QN characteristics There is a markedly difference which is not affected by the environmental conditions and/or pests. + Allowed number of off-type (based on the general guideline and individual test guidelines) - Plot Sample size of 1000 plants the maximum number of off-types allowed would be 3 (for self-pollinated varieties) and 27 plants (F1 Hibryd)
GIỐNG KHÔNG ĐỒNG NHẤT MÃ SỐ 47: GIỐNG THẦN NÔNG VIỆT 1
Examine of Stability When a candidate variety is sufficient uniform, it will be considered to be sufficient stable. If an additional test is needed, the variety is reproduced of plant materials from each plants and check uniformity in the next season.
