APPLIED VEHICLE: Altima Hybrid (L32HV) APPLIED POWERTRAIN: Hybrid Electric Vehicle ONLY IF YOU CONFIRM: DTC P0133 (A/F Sensor 1) is stored in the ECM and there are no other drivability issues. ACTIONS: Confirm this bulletin applies. Check to see if the correct A/F Sensor is installed in the vehicle (see page 2). If the correct A/F Sensor is installed, the A/F Sensor replacement section of this bulletin does not apply. Check and compare your Current ECM Part Number to Table A on page 4. If that part number does not match one in Table A, the ECM Reprogramming section of this bulletin does not apply. o If this bulletin applies in either or both cases, perform the appropriate action(s). o If this bulletin does not apply in either case, go back to ASIST for further diagnostic and repair information. NOTE: As of the date of this bulletin s release, the Part Number in FAST for the 2008 L32HV is incorrect. The Part Number for this vehicle is correct in the Parts Information section of this bulletin. DESCRIPTION PFP OP CODE SYM DIA FRT Replace the A/F Sensor (1) DE53AA (2) ZE 32 (2) (3) (1) Use the applicable A/F Sensor P/N in the Parts Information section of this bulletin as the PFP. (2) FRT allows adequate time to access DTC codes and replace the A/F Sensor. No other diagnostic procedures subsequently required. Do NOT claim any Diagnostic Op Codes with this claim. (3) Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT. AND / OR: If the ECM does match one listed in Table A on a separate repair line submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) type line claim using the following claims coding: DESCRIPTION PFP OP CODE SYM DIA FRT Reprogram ECM per TSB (1) DE97AA ZE 32 (2) (3) (1) Reference the Repair Order and use the current ECM P/N written down in Step 2 of the Service Procedure for ECM as the PFP. (2) FRT allows adequate time to access DTC codes and reprogram ECM. No other diagnostic procedures subsequently required. Do NOT claim any Diagnostic Op Codes with this claim. (3) Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT. SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR A/F SENSOR 1. Check the color of the Sensor harness lead tube to verify which Sensor is installed: BLACK TUBE = 2007 Altima Hybrid (L32HV) P/N JA00B GREY TUBE = 2008 Altima Hybrid (L32HV) P/N AA0A Figure A o If the correct Sensor is installed, this section does not apply. Proceed to Service Procedure for ECM. o If the correct Sensor is not installed, replace it with the correct one from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Once done proceed to Service Procedure for ECM. 2/5 NTB08-012b

3 SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR ECM 1. Connect C-III to the vehicle to begin the reprogramming procedure. If you are not familiar with the reprogramming procedure, click here. This will link you to the "CONSULT- III (C-III) ECM Reprogramming" general procedure. CAUTION: Connect a battery charger to the vehicle 12V battery. If the 12V battery voltage drops during reprogramming, the ECM may be damaged. Be sure to turn OFF all vehicle electrical loads. If a vehicle electrical load remains ON, the ECM may be damaged. For ECM reprogramming, the C-III MUST be connected to the VI using the USB cable. Be sure to connect the AC Adapter. If the C-III battery voltage drops during reprogramming, the process will be interrupted and the ECM will be damaged. 2. When you get to the ECM Reprogramming screen shown in Figure 1, confirm this section applies as follows: A. On your C-III screen, look at the Part Number column (see Figure 1): If this column is blank (no part number listed), this section does not apply. If a Part Number is listed, write it on the Repair Order. A ****************** Figure 1 3/5 NTB08-012b

4 B. Compare the Part Number you wrote down to the numbers in the Current ECM Part Number column in Table A. If there is a match, this section applies. Continue with the reprogramming procedure. If there is not a match, ECM reprogramming does not apply. If the A/F Sensor was replaced in the SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR A/F SENSOR section of this bulletin, proceed to Step 4 on the next page. If the A/F Sensor was not replaced close C-III and refer to ASIST for further diagnostic information. 5 4. Make sure to erase DTCs from all Systems. NOTE: During the reprogramming, DTCs will set in several systems. DTCs must be erased from all systems. 5. Test drive the vehicle and make sure it operates correctly and the Check Engine light is OFF. If the Check Engine light comes ON, go back to ASIST for further diagnostic information. Refer to the applicable Electronic Service Manual as needed. Diagnosis and repairs beyond the ECM reprogramming are not covered by this bulletin. 6. For 2007 models, Erase the ND3 data.
