3 Corporate Philosophy ZEON CSR Policy Management Strategy of Zeon Corporation. Zeon Corporation established a three-year mid-term management plan, IZ-60 (Innovation Zeon 60), which it developed from 2008 to 2010, thus realizing our corporation philosophy Zeon contributes to the preservation of the Earth and prosperity of the human race. However, we are not immune to the recent difficult business environment caused by the global economic depression that started with American sub-prime loans in 2008, as well as the resulting dramatic changes in the global economy and exchange rate movement. We are taking prompt action with regard to these changes, reviewing the IZ-60 plan and working on various related matters. We will ensure compliance and meet society's needs for safety and security. 7 ZEON Corporation's synthetic rubbers for international markets ZEON Corporation is contributing to the automobile industry with its global business development. Potentials and added values that go beyond natural materials ZEON Corporation develops new applications with emphasis on environmental consideration. ZEON Corporation's business performance is at the highest level globally in the field of general-purpose rubber such as SBR, BR, and IR used in manufacturing automobile tires, and also in the field of special rubber such as hydrogenated nitrile rubber, NBR, and acrylic rubber. Successfully developed and the first in the world to bring it to market, hydrogenated nitrile rubber "Zetpol" and rubber with modified molecule terminals are the major products that show ZEON Corporation's advanced technologies. ZEON Corporation has established the tripartite production and sales systems involving Japan, US, and Europe, and also has been focusing on sales to Asian markets with Singapore and Shanghai as the sales bases. Synthetic latex compensates for the weaknesses of natural rubber latex and has added values. Its wide range application covers paper coating such as impregnation of the coating, latex for ABS resin, fibers or non-woven fabric, carpet, adhesive for tire cords, paints, cosmetic puffs, and rubber gloves, and thus synthetic latex is used in every part of our daily living. ZEON Corporation has not only succeeded in developing synthetic latex with uniform particles, but has also developed techniques to freely adjust particle size and composition, including the ability to create hollow particles. ZEON Corporation intends to pursue further innovation and increase both usage and value, with steadfast regard for environmental issues. SBR, S-SBR, and BR are used in passenger car tires.
