2 Abstract All organizations are being asked to do more with less. We our trying to increase our skill trades wrench time, but what are we providing our Reliability Supervisors that allows them to make efficient and effective decisions and how can our Work Management Specialist (WMS), Reliability Supervisors and Schedulers monitor the performance and track improvements? I will discuss the process we at DTE Energy have developed to allow our managers and supervisors to review the effectiveness of the schedules we are building, by incorporating metrics, and compliance reports which will let us see how well we are at executing our schedule. We are accomplishing this by using Maximo and AKWIRE Visual Suite for Maximo using these tools together to build better weekly schedules This is making it possible for us to use our skilled trades as well as our Reliability Supervisors and WMS (Planners) & Schedulers time more efficiently. 2

7 The Issues We Faced Scheduling Lack of visibility of work Availability of resources Identification of duplicate works Compliance Work order completion it s not done until the paperwork is done Knowing what to work on and what not to work on based on priority, labor & material availability etc. Accurate assignments to available resources 7

8 Our Process to Resolve the Issues Project identified and defined How we built the team and got buy in Who was on the team How did we work together Looked at several different process improvements Work Management improvements Process Owners and SMEs Planning and scheduling functionality AKWIRE 1. A team was developed by getting people from each power plant 8

9 Schedule Management Overview 6 Power Plants (MONPP,STCPP,RRGPP,TCHPP,GRNEC,BLRPP) & 1 non-regulated unit; EES Coke (Facilities will be online soon) Each Power Plant consists of a Master Scheduler and smaller schedules by Crew Weekly work plan (T-1) is a primary focus created for each crew Scheduling meeting with Maintenance & Operations is held on Fri for last review of weekly plan? AKWIRE Autolock job runs on Friday night Power Plant Master schedule Baseline of T-1 Daily activities during T-0 are assigned to Labor Emergency and Sponsored work is tracked with Reason Codes; Break-Ins and Break-Outs Labor availability; leave or extra time exceptions are entered (vacation, training, over time, etc.) 9

10 Schedule Management Weekly Plan Weekly work plan (T-1) is created for each crew Weekly Timeline Unit PMs, Priority Work, planned BackLog Identify duplicate WOs, multiple WOs by Asset/Location Accurate Weekly Availability view by Craft is key vcalendar leave & extra time entries Scheduling meeting with Maintenance & Operations is held by Thursday at noon with the final review by end of Day Friday Maintenance Reliability Supervisors, WMS (Planners), Schedulers, Work Control Coordinator, and Shift Supervisor meet by noon Thursday to preliminary review the work scheduled for next week. Resource availability and equipment priority are used to balance the work load for each crew. Friday before the end of the day Operations folks with the Scheduler or Reliability Supervisors make a final review taking into consideration work which will not be completed or possibly not started in the current week T0 which will need to be rolled over to week T-1 or beyond depending on the reason. All changes are published back to Maximo 10

18 Schedule Management AKWIRE AutoLock Job Purpose: Baseline weekly work plan (T-1) for each Plant Master Schedule Takes a Snapshot of all work orders, planned labor, resource requirements/availability Saves Metrics for T-0 and T-1 Auto-calculates dynamic metrics for T+1, T+2, T+3 (based on actuals) Runs automatically Weekly Friday 9PM Sends automated to Admin distribution list 18
