6 Conference Sessions Tuesday, 6 October Time Plenary Session Location 09:00-10:30 Plenary Session 1 ITS delivering societal changes Palais des Congrès - Amphi B Around the world increasing attention is being paid to three key transport challenges sustaining mobility, reducing the number and severity of traffic accidents, and managing the complex ecosystem of energy consumption which will contribute to mitigating climate change. Established and emerging ITS solutions can contribute in a variety of ways to addressing these problems by influencing behaviour and widening the perspective on choices for example by enabling a transition from a world where a traveller owns or uses a range of transport to one where mobility is delivered through a package of services. National priorities vary but common themes include increasing the deployment of smart systems to improve safety and to contribute to greening transport by reducing gaseous and noise emissions, reducing overall energy consumption while boosting the use of renewable energy sources, and shifting to lower-carbon transport modes. Speakers in this Plenary will review the technology, financial, social and environmental considerations, recommend what ITS can deliver now and in the near future, and propose ideas on what the necessary framework for this might be. Anne Berner, Minister of Transport and Communications of Finland, will represent the Finnish point of view. Time Technical Session Location 11:00-12:30 Technical Session 11 - Policies and platforms Hall 2 - Room 6 Juho Kostiainen VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland On exploitation of social features in mobility service platforms : This paper examines different aspects of services platforms, while focusing on the context of transportation and mobility. Marco Annoni Telecom Italia A cooperative business approach to ITS: the MOBiNET vision : This paper describes the intermediate results of the MOBiNET project. The focus of the paper is on the business aspects and the current findings of business implications are discussed. Time Technical Session Location 11:00-12:30 TS10 - Journey analytics 1 Hall 2 - Room 5 Ulf Noyer German Aerospace Center (DLR) MOBiNET architecture overview of an innovative platform for European mobility services An innovative approach for a European-wide ITS service platform which addresses current barriers of cooperative system-enabled service deployment such as lack of harmonised services, availability of communication means, inaccessibility and incompatibility of transport-related data, fragmentation of end user subscriptions and payment services, and proprietary technologies in user devices.
7 Colour Code: Plenary Technical Commercial Interactive Executive Project Tuesday, 6 October Time Commercial Session Location 11:00-12:30 CP01 - Commercial Paper Session Hall 1 - ITS Forum Alessandro Taddei Infoblu, Italy Floating car data a technical and business revolution in traffic management : This paper provides a background on GPS and fixed sensor data and looks at GPS from a business perspective, focusing also on quality and privacy issues of this big data. Time Executive Session Location 11:00-12:30 ES02 - ITS for social innovation Palais des Congrès - E1 & E2 In recent years ITS have brought extensive and rapid changes to our daily life and social services as a result of technical and business model innovation. However, it seems people tend to be slow to understand such changes as a series of social reforms. ITS could make significant contributions to many hot social issues such as sustainable economic growth, road safety and efficiency, climate change and environment preservation, and better mobility for an ageing society. The involvement of both public and private sectors in developing the national ITS vision and roadmap will encourage more social innovations and benefit a better society. This session will share the experience that has been achieved and discuss the potential directions where we should go forward. Mikael Nyberg, Director of Transport Services of the Finnish Ministry of Transport, will talk about mobility as a service. Time Commercial Session Location 13:30-15:00 CP02 - Traffic information and management 2 Hall 1 - ITS Forum Olli Pihlajamaa VTT, Finland Voiceinfo location-based social voice media for traffic information In Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and mobility services, the potential of user generated content is still largely untapped. This paper will introduce VoiceInfo, a concept and working prototype of a smartphone application allowing location-based audio messaging for traffic information sharing between drivers and from 3rd party content providers. Wednesday, 7 October Time Interactive Session Location 14:00-15:30 IS07 - Freight and logistics 3 Hall 1 - Interactive Theatre Orjan Tveit NPRA, Norway Cooperative self-declaring of weight for trucks This paper explains how a new concept with cooperative self-declaring of truck weight may reduce time lost for trucks at control stations as well as improve the traffic controls for public authority. The truck voluntarily shares its weight and identity with a roadside station that in turn shares the info with a dedicated back office system. The back office system controls the weight and checks the administrative registers for traffic remarks, insurance and public fees.
8 Conference Sessions Thursday, 8 October Time Technical Session Location 11:00-12:30 TS63 - Smarter services for cities and regions 2 Hall 2 - Room 223 Guido di Pasquale Pluservice, Italy Improving the efficiency of DAR service in London through an EU-wide service platform This paper describes a European Wide Service Platform promoted in MOBiNET and the impact this platform has on the Dial-a-Ride service deployed in a metropolitan area in London. This innovative service will solve the inefficiency of vehicles waiting around for a pick-up, with a clear impact on passive traffic and CO 2 emission and the needs of passengers, especially elderly or infirm. Time Technical Session Location 15:30-17:00 TS80 - New data sources Hall 2 - Room 7 Yanying Li ERTICO - ITS Europe Where to find mobility related apps: designing an app directory for mobility services This paper proposes an online directory which lists apps related to transport and mobility services in order to allow users to quickly find an app they need. Users of the app directory are app developers and end users. The paper analyses user requirements and defines basic functions and user interfaces. Thursday, 8 October Time Project Session Location 17:15-18:45 PR13 - Project Session Hall 1 - Project Dissemination Theatre Is there a business case for a universal mobility service marketplace? With the explosion of both online mobility services and sources of open transport data, there is a growing need for marketplaces where users can find apps and services, and where service providers and operators can publish data and third-party services. This session will be lead as an interactive debate around possible business models for e-marketplace users and operators, as well as models for the governance and organisation of such platforms. The panelists represent leading mobility service providers from Europe, Japan and beyond.
9 Colour Code: Plenary Technical Commercial Interactive Executive Project Friday, 9 October Time Technical Session Location 11:00-12:30 TS97 - ITS applications and architecture Hall 2 - Room 222 Michael Sena Allianz Telematics, Sweden Mobinet Europe-wide platform for mobility services organisation and governance This paper will focus on MOBiNET s central facilities hosted as a cloud service market place. These facilities will be available for a group of diverse pilot sites that will validate MOBiNET in trials aimed at learning from operators and users experiences. Lars Mikkelsen Aalborg University, Denmark Intelligent parking assistant - a showcase of the mobinet platform functionalities This paper will demonstrate how the Intelligent Parking Assistant (IPA) can help the user to choose, find and pay for parking. The performance of IPA is evaluated in terms of correctness of decisions made during runtime and based on user input in a trial period, involving more than 40 test users using the system on a regular basis.
