58 GROUNDHOG, DESWIK, AND SHORT INTERVAL CONTROL (SIC) How does groundhog differ from Deswik? groundhog is a production control and optimization system that has a strong emphasis on production data capture, equipment/work place inspection, and fleet management (think of it as the actuals in plans vs. actuals ). It contains a basic scheduler for planning and task allocation as well. Deswik is a high-quality planning & scheduling What role does groundhog play in a short interval control (SIC) system? groundhog performs real-time propagation of tasks to operators and pushback of production data to supervisors/ managers. A short interval control (SIC) system in simplest terms consists of: groundhog; a planning/scheduling platform such as Deswik; and a location tracking platform such as Mobilaris or AeroScout. platform (the plans in plans vs. actuals. Deswik.OPS integrates well with groundhog together; they can provide your client with a world-class mining operations system.

59 ORE & ROCK PROGRESS TRACKING, RECORDING, AND REPORTING How does progress tracking work in groundhog? How granular can it get? Progress tracking in groundhog is at the individual activity level: every hole, every bolt, every load. All timestamped, with color-coded indicators to flag operators that are on- and off-track. What does groundhog do with regards to ore & rock management? Is it the system of record for production data related to ore & rock? What about consumables? groundhog is where operators record every ton of ore and rock loaded, hauled, and dumped. It is the system of record for ore & rock quantities and durations. It is also the system of record for consumables (e.g., wire mesh, hanger plates, bolt steel, etc.)

60 NETWORKING & COMMUNICATIONS Does groundhog include networking hardware and configuration (e.g., access points, authentication protocols)? No. groundhog components are limited to the tablet apps, desktop interfaces, and line-out TV interfaces. In our experience, the mine s IT department typically handles networking hardware and configuration issues How does machine-to-machine communication work in groundhog? Each tablet has the capability of creating an ad hoc wifi network. When another tablet comes in proximity, groundhog is automatically able to sync the data across both tablets so that they each now carry the most updated data as identical copies. Once out of proximity to each other, whenever either tablet connects to the actual mine wifi network, it transmits its copy of this updated data back to the groundhog server, which then performs another sync and pushes data wherever it needs to go.
