A differentiating capability of SYSGO is the SSV (Safe and Secure Virtualization) RTOS platform PikeOS, a paravirtualization operating system which is built upon a small, fast, and certifiably safe microkernel. It supports the co-existence of independent operating system personalities on a single platform, including ELinOS, SYSGO s embedded Linux distribution. SYSGO supports a global customer base with services for embedded Linux, realtime capabilities, and certification for safety-critical applications. Customers include Airbus, Honeywell, Thales, Daimler, Raytheon, Rheinmetall, Rockwell-Collins, Siemens, and Rohde & Schwarz. Innovation: the engine of growth SYSGO was founded in 1991 as an RTOS service company. In 1999 the company introduced the first embedded Linux distribution for industrial applications, ELinOS. Three years later the company changed its legal form and became SYSGO AG. With PikeOS, SYSGO s SSV (Safe and Secure Virtualization) platform, another flagship product was introduced in In the same year SYSGO opened a new office in Paris to cover South Europe and signed a distribution agreement with a local partner in Japan. One year later SYSGO secured distribution partnerships in USA, UK, Korea and India and introduced its Safety-Critical Ethernet the first true software-only implementation of Avionics Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet. Continuing our international expansion, new SYSGO offices have been opened in 2008 (Rostock, Germany) and in 2009 (Chicago, US), and new distributor agreements have been signed with distributors in Italy, UK, Ireland and Austria. Our products have always been first on the market. ELinOS Industrial Grade Linux ELinOS is a comprehensive development environment for embedded Linux software development. Unlike traditional Linux implementations, SYSGO s ELinOS is purpose-built for use in demanding industrial applications. SYSGO leveraged several years of field expertise to make in 1999 an embedded Linux offering well suited for real-world complex applications, and to back it up with world-class support. Many BSPs corresponding to the most successful boards on the market are included as well as BSPs for virtualization engines such as QEMU and VMware, or for the other SYSGO flagship product PikeOS. In addition to its widely-used x86 version, ELinOS supports PowerPC-, ARM-, MIPS-, SPARC- and SH-platforms. ELinOS includes CODEO, the Eclipse based development environment that provides guided configuration, remote debugging (often down to the hardware instruction level), target monitoring, remote application deployment, and timing analyses in addition to standard application development features such as compilers and assemblers. PikeOS RTOS Technology PikeOS is an industry-leading operating system platform where multiple virtual machines can run simultaneously in a secure environment, e.g. an ARINC-653 application together with Linux. SYSGO pioneered the concept and fielded the first implementation of SSV (Safe and Secure Virtualization). PikeOS provides the widest range of operational personalities (i.e. guest OS or RTE) on the market. The PikeOS microkernel allows it to be used in cost sensitive, resource constrained devices as well as large, complex systems. The simplicity, modularity and compactness of the PikeOS design results in real-time performance that competes with other RTOS. Contrary to others, PikeOS is fully hardware independent for both single and multi-core CPUs and provides a wide range of supported architectures namely x86, PowerPC, ARM, MIPS, Leon, v850, and SH-4. PikeOS is DO-178B, IEC 61508, EN 50128, ISO certifiable and is MILS compliant. PikeOS also includes the Eclipse-based IDE CODEO. safety-critical Ethernet Software based ARINC-664 SYSGO s Safety-Critical Ethernet is the first completely genuine software implementation of ARINC-664 Part 7 used in civil and military aerospace programs that has been certified according to DO-178B standard. The hardware independence of Safety-Critical Ethernet makes it flexible, adaptable, scalable and affordable. Although an ARINC-664 stack can be implemented in hardware or in software, when software is an option and the budget is tight, the advantages of the software solution will far outweigh the alternative of a hardware based solution. In 2006, SYSGO became the first to develop an industrial solution used in actual projects.
