For over 28 years, the company has been the first point of call for customized CAN bus module solutions and a wide range of different CAN applications. Graduate Engineer Robert Michaelides laid the foundations for the group in Fulda in 1986, which also includes the telematics provider PROEMION. RM Michaelides specializes in the wireless forwarding of CAN messages via cellular phone network, Bluetooth and WLAN. The innovative product solutions enable global data communications with vehicles and machines that are practically unlimited. 9 CLIENTS AND PARTNERS Examples of application MUNICIPAL SERVICES / FORESTRY MANAGEMENT CANlink mobile is being used together with PROEMION Core REAL-TIME to read CAN data at a manufacturer of mobile shredding vehicles. Prior to the implementation remote diagnosis was not possible. CAN data are now securely sent via the CANlink mobile modem to a PROEMION server, from where they are directly forwarded to the RMtools Dashboard. This software enables the visualization of CAN data using freely configurable instrument displays in real time. STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING / DEMOLITION ROBOTS To control their demolition robots, a leading manufacturer is using a mobile CAN data transfer via a CANlink Bluetooth radio bridge with a range of up to 100 m. The radio link is continuously monitored, and if the connection is interrupted, the demolition robot assumes a secure position. An OEM variant without an additional casing is installed in the operating device, while in the robot itself, CANlink Bluetooth is used in a robust aluminum casing. This means the operator of the demolition robot is able to move freely, they are not limited by a cable and can remain outside the danger zone. Falling debris is not able to damage any cables. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING To connect CAN with Profibus, RM Michaelides offers the special CANview Profibus DP. This gateway is being successfully used in the field of mechanical engineering. When combined with the visualization software RMtools Dashboard, the data can be shown on a laptop, tablet or smartphone. SHIPPING A control unit for installation on ship's bridges uses the CAN Display 5000 for the visualization of the ship's key operating data. Control commands can be initialized via keys on the display. A speed level controller and a separate emergency stop button supplement the display to create a single unit which is sold as a plug-and-play extension to a ship control bridge. The robust design of the display convinced the customer and provided the basis for special maritime certifications. INDUSTRIAL TRUCKS RM Michaelides develops diagnosis interfaces for service technicians at a major company from the field of forklift truck and storage technology. These interfaces connect the service PC with the vehicle via USB, WLAN or Bluetooth. In this context, diagnostic protocols are supported for different series and generations of vehicle. With an add-on kit consisting of CANlink mobile and connecting material, a forklift truck manufacturer is enabling existing and new vehicles to be equipped with a telematics system. The operating hours and error states are transferred to the PROEMION system where they are displayed and evaluated. AGRICULTURAL MACHINES CANlink mobile is used to transfer CAN data in over 10,000 agricultural vehicles worldwide. Thanks to a wireless modem, a specific PROEMION data server and encoded messaging, the CAN data are securely sent to the customer server. On the basis of the transferred data, the vehicle manufacturer offers its customers a comprehensive agricultural telematics system. This webservice is supplemented by a log file reader (connection history)
