15 Challenges Windows in a Linux only shop Staff unfamiliar with Windows Infrastructure - we didn t even have a single Microsoft server IT resource constraints Performance Dealing with some graphics intense applications Multi GB/TB file sharing Tight timeline Unlike most other projects, which have tons of extra time Capex avoidance

Citrix XenDesktop Service offered exactly what we needed in Citrix Cloud Robust web enabled viewer Citrix Receiver HTML5 based solution for basic interface Client software for more advanced interface Tight MS Windows integration Active directory, Windows OS internals AWS Integration Secure remote cloud-based services and resources Pay as you go. Grow as you need, and quickly Remote datacenter, machine-to-machine performance lightning fast No patches or upgrades needed

20 Active Directory Integration from LDAP to AD Securely manage user accounts in our application via LDAP Wrote script to sync our users and groups with Active Directory Php based triggers/plugins This allowed us to: Easily apply GPO to deployed Citrix environments Control individual access to licensed Windows applications Common mapped drives and permissions based on group membership Provide secure single sign-on cvfhub ldap Windows Domain Controller

21 Advanced Citrix Cloud setup We needed to some small modifications to the standard setup Citrix StoreFront and Netscaler Storefront - front end for launching tools and desktops Netscaler - proxy that routes desktop video to clients Normally managed by Citrix Cloud, we had to take over these services Most of you likely won t have to do this

27 Notes on High Performance Graphics Many cvfhub applications have heavy graphics requirements AWS has instances with GPU access Citrix has support to stream desktops and applications with high graphics needs - HDX 3D Pro
