At 2mm thick, it achieves a pendulum test value of PTV 50 and Class B to DIN51097 for barefoot use. 4 The future is safer with Altro The elderly and infirm in particular need to feel secure underfoot and can worry about the risk of slipping and possible injuries. Altro Aquarius lacks studs which can feel uncomfortable to those, who for a variety of reasons, may be more sensitive to floor surfaces. Altro Aquarius therefore feel smoother than a traditional studded floor but still boasts a reassuring grip to allay the fears of slipping, making it highly beneficial to locations where occupational therapists work. 8 Altro Aquarius was an obvious choice for this project as this one product has a range of applications combining shoe and barefoot use, in both wet and dry environments. As this safety flooring is multi-functional, I was able to use Altro Aquarius throughout all the areas, including the changing rooms, pool surround and spectator seating. This gave a consistent look and feel to the whole design while reducing the risk of slips and trips.
