WARNINGS. - Always use and wear all safety equipment. Eye protection is required to protect against metal pieces and particles produced while cutting or screwing metal pieces. It is highly recommended that you wear safety glasses and leather gloves when working with DIY BBQ frame kits. The metal framing is very sharp where it has been cut. - Keep children and animals away from frame kit. - Please follow all manufacturer directions on how to properly install their BBQ products. - Check with your local codes on construction of your BBQ Island and what permits you may be required to have. - Utility lines should only be installed by a licensed plumber or electrician per code in your area. Do not forget to get a permit if required by local laws or regulations. - Please read all directions on how to install your DIY BBQ Island frame kit; you are installing the product at your own risk. DIY BBQ, LLC is not liable for misuse of the frame kits and not liable for damage to your BBQ products. 2

3 NOTICE OF LIMITED LIABILITY NOTICE: DIYBBQ, LLC shall Not be liable for incidental and consequential damages, directly or indirectly sustained to any person(s), equipment, tools, or appliances during or after the installation of any BBQ island, related directly or indirectly to the installation and operation of any BBQ island or appliances, nor for any loss caused by application of these goods not in accordance with current printed instructions or for other than the intended use. DIYBBQ, LLC's liability is expressly limited to replacement of defective goods. Any claim shall be deemed waived unless made in writing to DIYBBQ, LLC at Ivy St, Murrieta, CA 92562, within thirty (30) days from date it was or reasonably should have been discovered. ARBITRATION AGREEMENT USE OF, OR PURCHASE OF ANY DIYBBQ, LLC PRODUCTS OR ANY GOODS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE THROUGH DIYBBQ.COM REQUIRES THAT ALL CLAIMS WILL BE SETTLED UNDER THIS BINDING ARBITRATION PROVISION WHICH AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS AND MAY BE ENFORCED BY THE PARTIES. In the event a dispute shall arise between DIYBBQ, LLC and any purchaser of any DIYBBQ, LLC product or good available through DIYBBQ.COM, it is hereby agreed that the dispute shall be referred to a USA&M office to be designated by USA&M National Headquarters for arbitration in accordance with the applicable United States Arbitration and Mediation Rules of Arbitration. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and legally binding and judgment may be entered thereon. Each party shall be responsible for its share of the arbitration fees in accordance with the applicable Rules of Arbitration. In the event a party fails to proceed with arbitration, unsuccessfully challenges the arbitrator's award, or fails to comply with the arbitrator's award, the other party is entitled to costs of suit, including a reasonable attorney's fee for having to compel arbitration or defend or enforce the award. 3

4 TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY - PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT is very important. -You should always wear safety glasses and gloves at a minimum when working with your frame kit. Rafter Square Tape Measure Magnetic Level Marker Cordless Drill *TIP A cordless impact driver will make steel frame assembly easier and help protect edges of the HardieBacker cement board from cracking during installation onto the frame. - Using the proper tools will make the project much easier to do and will help you obtain a properly built project. This list of tools is only a list of basic tools for assembly and you may use other tools to make the project easier. Tools can be found at Lowes or Home Depot 4

5 Fire Pit ASSEMBLY OUTLINE 1. Assemble DIY BBQ Fire Pit walls. 2. Connect each frame walls into one frame. 3. Install composite board onto the bottom of the frame along all perimeter tracks. 4. Make sure frame is level and shim if needed (use composite shims). 5. Install 1/2 HardieBacker cement board onto the sides of the frame. This is the step that will make the frame very strong and rigid. 6. Install 1/2 HardieBacker cement board onto the top of the top of the frame (counter top does not matter. The cement board is needed) 7. Tape all seams where the HardiBacker meets and apply thinset. Apply to all joints and screw heads that hold the cement board to the frame. This step is especially import for islands being finished with stucco. 8. Finish the Fire Pit with your finishing materials. *TIP You can stucco directly on the cement board but it is highly recommended to use concrete adhesive prior to applying the stucco. 5

6 DIY BBQ Fire Pit FRAME KIT ASSEMBLY *We recommend #8 x 1/2 Pan Head Type S Framing Screws for frame assembly. *Each module will consist of assembling 4 walls separately and then screwing them together. *Each module will be completed in 8 easy steps. Please read all steps before preceding to make sure you understand how to assemble before you start. Step 1 Layout 2 PT tracks and 2 studs to make a rectangle. Step 2 Connect each stud and PT track with one screw into each corner. 6

7 Step 3 Place 4 corner braces to connect the studs to the perimeter tracks. You will place a screw to connect each cross brace to the studs/perimeter tracks. *Tip use a carpenter square to make sure the corner is a 90 angle before securing each brace to the frame. Step 4 Continue to place a brace into each corner of the wall. Step 5 Place a stud every 12 s on center into the one wall of the module. *Tip lay a measuring tape in front of the wall and make a tic mark every 12 s on the track. To make aligning the stud easier use the indentation in the stud as the center mark. Step 6 Repeat steps 1-3 for each side of the module. You will be making 2, front and back, perimeter walls (PT) and 2 side walls (cross channels). Some customers like to assemble all walls of the island modules before proceeding to connect the walls. 7

8 Step 7 Stand all 4 walls vertically with the sides touching so that they form a module. Step 8 Once you have built the 4 walls of a module you will connect them into a complete module. *Tip It will only be Necessary to connect the walls with 2 screws in each corner. Once this step is completed you will have one completed module. Continue to build all modules before connecting them together into one large unit. 8
