3 10.1 Extent of Works Work is to be as indicated on the Drawings. This will include: cement render finish to both internal and external masonry walls; plasterboard to internal walls; both suspended and fixed plasterboard ceilings; fibre cement (F.C) wall; and soffit linings. For C.F.C. fascias, refer Section General Materials and workmanship shall be in accordance with the best trade practice. Wall and ceiling finishes shall be flat, even and straight, free from cracks, blisters, water marks, stains or other imperfections Dimensional Tolerance (Rev 07.8) Render and sheeting surface finishes and quality are to be as set out in Volume 2, Section 10 unless noted otherwise in this section. In general repaired works, must be true to alignment +/- 5mm max over 3m length and be level and plumb and in no case have a deflection greater than span/500. Works must match into adjoining work and not provide steps or abrupt changes in direction in particular for cladding, fascias and parapets 10.3 Cement Render Use of render Where indicated on Drawings, masonry walls shall be finished with nominal 12mm cement render from floor to ceiling height; finished to provide a suitable surface for painting. Render to internal walls of lube-bays to be finished 100mm above floor level to coincide with concrete coving on the floor slab. External brick walls to be rendered only where indicated on Drawings, or to match or extend existing and remaining works. Composition of render Cement render shall be composed of: Single Coat OR Base Coat / Top Coat Portland (Tupe A) Cement 1 part 2 parts 1 part Hydrated Line 1 / 5 part 1 part 1 / 5 part 2 of 7

4 Clean, sharp, coarse Sand 3 parts 2 parts 4 parts Render shall only be mixed in quantities that can be used immediately. Give sufficient notice so that inspection may be made of completed work prior to decorative coating. Metal lath Galvanised sheet steel expanded to a mesh by slitting and stretching. To comply with AS 1397/Z2725 (mimimum). The self-furring type of metal lath is one with staggered indentations which hold the body of the sheet 10mm clear of the substrate. Substrate Correction of substrate: Before rendering, make good any defects in the substrate. Hack off excessive projections. Fill voids and hollows with a mix not stronger than the substrate nor weaker than the first coat. Untrue substrate: If the substrate is not sufficiently true to comply with the thickness limits for one coat, or has excessively uneven suction resulting from variations in the composition of the substrate, carry out the work in two coats. Cleaning Remove deleterious and loose material and leave the surface clean and dust free. Embedded items Ensure that water pipes and other embedded items are sheathed to permit thermal movement. If ungalvanised steel items are to be embedded, provide rust protection treatment not inferior to prime painting with zinc, rich primer. Chases If chases or recesses are more than 50mm wide, cover with metal lath extending not less than 75mm beyond each side of the recess. Thickness limits One coat work: 12-15mm Multi-coat work: * first coat 9-15mm * Finishing coat 6-9mm Proportioning Apply successive coats no stronger (ie. no richer in cement) than the substrate or undercoat to which they are applied. 3 of 7

5 Hidden surfaces Surfaces concealed by cupboards and other fit-out items, shall be included in the render finish required to any area. Incidental Work Return rendering into reveals, beads, sills, recesses and niches. Plaster faces, ends, and soffits of projections in the substrate, such as string courses, sills, pilasters and corbels. Run throating on soffits of external projections neatly finished. Trim around openings. Joining Up If joining up is unavoidable in a large area of work, make joints invisible in the finished work. Cement based undercoats Before applying the next coat, allow the undercoat to dry out, dust down, and, if necessary, dampen to give correct suction. Tolerances Finish plane surfaces within a tolerance of 3mm in 3m, determined by a 3m straight edge placed anywhere in any direction. Finish corners, angles, edges, and curved surfaces within equivalent tolerances. Curing Cure by a method that prevents rapid or uneven drying out Plasterboard Sheeting (Rev 97.2) Location Provide: plasterboard sheeting to internal stud walls and cavity slider frame plasterboard ceilings to public toilets, staff amenities, food store, kitchen, salesroom office and workshop office/reception. Provide fixed plasterboard ceiling to salesroom and general storeroom only if indicated. Work and materials All joints are to be pointed and set flush. Wet area wall sheeting shall be Villaboard, refer Clause (07.6) Plasterboard shall be: 10mm (consider setting a min thickness greater than 10mm thick for studs and ceiling joists at 450mm centres 13mm thick for studs/joists spaced at 600mm. Where set plasterboard ceilings abut walls, they shall have a 10mm shadow angle, for both horizontal and vertical junctions. 4 of 7

6 Co-ordination and service hatches Ceiling work shall be co-ordinated to allow all trades to complete their work in the ceiling plenum prior to total sheeting of the ceiling areas. All surfaces shall be left clean and free of defects. All framing required in the ceiling space for support of joinery items shall be co-ordinated and installed, by the Contractor, prior to sheeting the ceiling. Service hatches shall be provided where indicated/required in plasterboard ceilings. These shall be properly framed, with minimum visible trim Suspended Ceilings Provide exposed grid ceiling suspension system with 5 mm adjustable suspension rods to salesroom and adjoining office, unless otherwise specified on the Drawings. The grid system: support shall be exposed along all four edges of the tiles shall be hung from ceiling system channels fixed to roof purlin system. All ceiling tiles shall sit snugly into the suspended framework. Allow to incorporate lights, air conditioning ducts and exhaust vents. Provide matching air conditioning terminal panels to match surrounding ceiling finish F.C. Wall Sheeting and Soffit Panels Provide F.C. (Fibre Cement) sheeting, complete with all p.v.c. divisional moulds and jointing strips, to: eaves, soffits and walls of wet areas, and, nominally, staff amenities, public toilets and food store areas All to be as shown on the Drawings and in accordance with Manufacturer's instructions. Eaves soffit shall be Hardies "Hardiflex", or approved equivalent. Wall sheets shall be 6mm Hardies "Villaboard", or approved equivalent. Note: the eaves soffit may also be profiled, Colorbond finished metal sheeting. If metal soffits are installed, the material shall be the same as installed on the Canopy soffit (Refer Volume 3, Section 1) Compressed F.C. (CFC) Wall Panels (Rev 97.1) Provide Hardie's 9mm CFC sheeting as and if specified on the Drawings. Normally required to the shopfront, below mid-rail at the Service Counter, and to low visibility fascias of the shop building and canopy. 5 of 7

7 10.8 Ceiling Insulation Supply and install R2.5 rated fibreglass insulation batts above ceilings, where detailed on the Drawings. Note: ceiling insulation is not required where blanket insulation is installed with the roof sheeting Toilet Partitions This will be a proprietary toilet system, floor mounted,: that consists of purpose made panels; forming divisions, fronts, nibs and doors that is assembled and installed with the necessary purpose made fixings, and fitted with the manufacturer's standard hardware. Partition systems manufactured from CFC sheet or MDF sheet are acceptable CFC Partition System Panels Panels are to be: factory prefinished, double faced, autoclaved, high density fibre cement sheets (CFC) with square stone cut edges, ground smooth and arrised. thickness: division 18mm: fronts 24mm. Finish Finish is to be two pack polyurethane. Installation Fix to the floor with proprietary fittings. Fix at the top to a metal channel headrail. This is supplied as part of the system. It runs continuously across the fronts and is fixed to the walls at each end. Form the channel into a box section over doorways by snapping in a mating channel insert. Assembly fixings Attach divisions and nibs to walls and fronts with purpose made proprietary fixings. 6 of 7

8 MDF Partition System Panels Factory prefinished, double faced, moisture resistant, medium density fibreboard (MDF) to APMA industry standard not less than 19mm thickness. Finish Laminate to specified colour and texture. Installation Fix to the floor with proprietary fittings. Fix at the top to a metal channel headrail, supplied as part of the system. This runs continuously across the fronts and is fixed to the walls at each end. Form the channel into a box section over doorways by snapping in a mating channel insert. Assembly fixings Attach divisions and nibs to walls and fronts with purpose made proprietary fixings. 7 of 7
