Marlon CS Longlife can withstand temperature extremes from -40ºC to 100ºC (-40 to 212ºF) long term and up to 130ºC short term. No other glazing material can offer this combination of impact resistance and wide working temperature range. LIGHT TRANSMISSION Marlon CS Longlife provides direct natural light into a building, with clear polycarbonate providing almost 90% light transmission.to allow solar control tinted sheet options are available. UV PROTECTION An effective barrier preventing the infiltration of 98% of harmful UV radiation can be created using Marlon CS Longlife. The co-extruded UV barrier also significantly reduces the effects of weathering on the sheet, protecting it from discoloration and degradation. CHEMICAL RESISTANCE Polycarbonate has good resistance to many chemicals (with the exception of solvents and alkalis). ANTI-DRIP The optional anti-drip surface layer on selected profiles prevents the formation of water droplets in high humidity environments. IR HEAT BLOCK Marlon CS Longlife can be extruded with Infra Red (IR) Heat Block technology a heat controlling element that has been designed to cleverly block solar radiation from the sun without compromising on light transmission. FIRE PERFORMANCE Marlon CS Longlife exhibits excellent fire performance and in the event of a fire it will soften and open, allowing smoke, heat and gases produced by the fire to escape. MARLON CS LONGLIFE HEAT GUARD Marlon CS Longlife Heat guard is created by a specially developed pigment that allows light to enter through the roof at the same time as deflecting solar radiation. Tests have shown that it can reduce solar transmission through the roof by over 50%. Marlon CS Heat guard is ideal in any situation where natural light is required but excessive heat build up can be a problem. Like the entire Marlon CS Longlife range, Heat guard material includes UV protection which cuts out 98% of harmful radiation. IR HEAT BLOCK Marlon CS Longlife with Infra Red (IR) Heat Block technology has been designed to cleverly block solar radiation from the sun without compromising on light transmission. SHEET THICKNESS Marlon CS Longlife is also available in a choice of sheet thickness up to 2mm on selected profiles.the thicker sheet options are significant for high wind load or snow load applications, exceptionally high impact resistance and for wider support centres. ANTI-DRIP Specifically designed for horticultural applications, an optional anti-drip surface layer will prevent the formation of water droplets in high humidity environments.this innovative technology can be applied to selected profiles to increase productivity by assisting in minimising fruit and flower spoilage in greenhouse facilities. Non-standard and bespoke profiles are available for a guaranteed minimum order, profiles can be matched to most corrugated metal roofing and cladding system. IMPACT RESISTANCE Of all glazing materials polycarbonate exhibits greatest resistance to impact over a temperature range of -40 to +130 C. It is up to 200 times more resistant to impact than glass. High impact resistance means that Marlon CS Longlife is suitable for use in areas with a high risk of glazing breakage, such as areas prone to vandalism or hail storms, where other glazing materials might be inappropriate. A striker of diameter 16mm contacts a sample of sheet placed on a support ring with inner diameter 38mm. A weight of 1.8kg is dropped on to the striker from a height of 1.5m. The resulting impact energy of 27Nm only dents the sample: it does not crack or penetrate. Contact with plastic coated metal sheets, wet wood preservatives, solvents and alkali cleaners should be avoided. For details on the chemical resistance of Marlon CS Longlife to a range of chemicals please refer to the Marlon CS Longlife product guide. IMPACT RESISTANCE Marlon CS Longlife is highly resistant to breakage due to impact. Simulated hail tests have shown that 20mm diameter hailstones impacting the sheet at a speed of 21m/s will not cause breakage. Marlon CS Longlife carries a 3 year warranty in respect of weather breakage, as defined in the Marlon CS Longlife Warranty Leaflet, available separately. WORKABILITY Marlon CS Longlife can be cut or drilled using standard power tools. Please refer to the technical manual for full details. CONDENSATION Condensation will form on the underside of a roof made from any thin sheeting material.to minimise condensation within an enclosed structure, sources of moisture should be minimised and good ventilation should be provided. STORAGE Store Marlon CS Longlife sheets on horizontal flat surfaces, pallets or wooden bearers with flat surfaces at least l00mm wide placed at centres not exceeding 900mm. Storage should be indoors as far as possible.where Marlon CS Longlife is stored outdoors it must be protected from the sun, wind and water. Cover securely with an opaque waterproof cover draped over timbers placed on the top of the stack and ensure that the stack is ventilated to prevent heat build up. Never stack more than 1.2m high. Sunlight is magnified in passing through even a few uncovered stacked sheets, increasing their temperature and leading to distortion and degradation.water between the sheets accentuates these processes. SAFETY Marlon CS Longlife is a glazing material and should therefore be handled with due care at all times. NEVER walk on Marlon CS Longlife sheets.where access across a Marlon CS Longlife covered roof is necessary, use walking boards placed across at least three purlins to spread the load. Marlon CS Longlife exhibits exceptional impact resistance, up to two hundred times that of glass. If someone accidentally falls or walks on a correctly installed Marlon CS Longlife rooflight it is unlikely that a serious accident will result. 10

Installation guidelines When installing any roofing material, including rooflights, ensure that safe working methods are adopted and appropriate safety equipment is used.

Sheets which span up to two purlin spacings are of optimum length to cope with thermal movement. Maximum recommended sheet length for Marlon CS Longlife is 4m.

10 Installation guidelines When installing any roofing material, including rooflights, ensure that safe working methods are adopted and appropriate safety equipment is used. Sealants and tapes must be compatible with polycarbonate. All accessory materials should be light coloured, preferably white. Sheets which span up to two purlin spacings are of optimum length to cope with thermal movement. Maximum recommended sheet length for Marlon CS Longlife is 4m. THERMAL MOVEMENT Marlon CS Longlife has a very high coefficient of linear expansion; a 3m long sheet will expand by 5mm for a temperature rise of 25 C.To accommodate thermal movement arising from temperature changes, holes drilled through the sheet for fixings must be oversized. HOLE SIZE To accommodate thermal movement, holes for fixings should be drilled 6mm greater in diameter than the fixing shank for sheet lengths up to 2m and an additional 3mm per additional metre length of sheet. For example, in a 4m long sheet, holes should be overdrilled by 12mm. Failure to accommodate thermal movement will cause buckling of the sheet. FASTENER INSTALLATION CLEANING & MAINTENANCE To maintain the light transmission of any glazing material, periodic cleaning is necessary. Marlon CS Longlife must be cleaned with some care, as it is not resistant to all cleaners and the surface can be marked easily. The recommended cleaning procedure is as follows: Use lukewarm water to rinse sheet and soften dried dirt Make up a solution of lukewarm water and ordinary household cleaner or a mild soap and use this to wash sheet Use a sponge or soft cloth to gently remove dirt and grime Rinse with clean lukewarm water and repeat washing if necessary After final rinse dry off with a soft cloth Correct Slanted Over tight Fasteners must not be over-tightened as this will prevent thermal movement of the Marlon CS Longlife with changes in temperature. Marlon CS Longlife must be isolated from plastisol coatings using an aluminium foil barrier tape. NOTE: 1. Never scrub Marlon CS Longlife with brushes, abrasive materials or sharp tools 2. Never use strong alkali or abrasive cleaners 3. Never steam clean: use low pressures if pressure washing 4. Never use acetone, petrol, benzene, or solvents containing Butyl Cellosolve or Isopropanol It is advisable to test the suitability of any cleaner on a sample piece of Marlon CS Longlife first. After installation, labels, glazing compounds etc. can be removed using petroleum spirit, after which wash the sheet as described in the above procedure. 11
