Use medium 120-grit sandpaper or sanding discs Sweep the entire deck surface clean of any residual dust or debris. Roller apply MerKo Seal (Options: MerKo Seal SG or Mer-Thane Sealer) in a sample area using applicable inish texture technique(s) and color(s) to verify the desired inish. Upon approval, roller apply MerKo Seal (Options: MerKo Seal SG or Mer-Thane Sealer) in the selected color and inish to all vertical, base and lat deck areas with a 3/16 inch to 3/4 inch nap roller. Allow to dry for a minimum of one (1) hour. Silica sand or quartz aggregate can be broadcast into the wet topcoat minimum one (1) hour after broadcast. Then, sweep or vaccum clean Note: Mer-Thane Sealer must be used when additional aggregate is desired. After the initial substrate cleaning, nail all metal lashings three (3) inches (76.2mm) on center using galvanized rooing nails. Trowel apply Weather Deck Waterprooing Membrane with embedded synthetic burlap to all primed areas. Use 10 Burlap for skirts and 40 Burlap for treads and risers. Work out any wrinkles to ensure a tight and even application. Be sure corners are tight and contain no Mix Weather Deck Emulsion with Weather Deck Bodycoat Powder to a thick consistency and trowel apply two (2) coats to risers and skirts at a minimum 1/16 inch (1.59mm) thickness per coat. Allow to dry a minimum Note: Total minimum thickness of the Bodycoat layer will be 1/8 inch (3.2mm). Install Mer-Ko Aluminum Stair Nosing on all treads using screw nails or galvanized deck screws. Use staggered spacing every two (2) inches. Mask off the bull nose portion of the Stair Nosing and trowel apply a mixture of Weather Deck Emulsion with Weather Deck Bodycoat Powder to the exposed leg area at a minimum 1/16 inch (1.59mm) thickness.
