Rupture Performance Base Sheet and Coverboard Material 1.1 Samples of and 3/8-inch thick Securock were tested for rupture performance to determine the critical combination for use in full-scale test specimens and to assist with the design of full-scale specimens. 1.2 Specimen Preparation: Four 18 x 18 in. specimens of each combination was pierced with the reference fastening device, centered within each specimen. A cap sheet of was self-adhered to the top of each combination. 1.3 Procedure: The specimen is then clamped into the test apparatus, with the fastener shank pointing up. A grip is placed on the shank and pulled at a rate of 2 inches per minute. The maximum load incurred on the specimen is recorded. 1.4 Results: Specimen No. Table 1: Rupture (Pull-Through) Results (lbf) FBC HVHZ Nails & Tin Caps OMG 3 Galvalume Steel Plate TruFast MP-3 3/8-inch Securock OMG 3 Galvalume Steel Plate TruFast MP Average: Std. Simulated Wind Uplift Resistance 12 x 24 ft Pressure Differential 2.1 Specimen Preparation: One specimen measuring 13 x 26 ft was constructed for each of the following sample descriptions. The simulated wind uplift pressure tests utilize a 24 ft (7.3 m) long by 12 ft (3.7 m) wide steel vacuum pressure vessel arranged to apply vacuum air pressure at pre-established standard rates to the topside of the test panel, which forms the bottom of the pressure vessel Specimens were allowed to cure 7-days in outdoor, ambient conditions prior to testing. 7 Page 7 of 8 3. Observations: 3.1 Deck construction consisted of 19/32 thick plywood attached to structural supports of Southern Yelllow Pine spaced 24-inch o.c Panels 2A, 3 and 4 utilized 8d common nails spaced 6 o.c. for plywood securement, and displayed withdrawal of said nails from structural supports at 105, 120 and 135 psf (passing 90, 105 and 120 psf), respectively Panels 1 and 2B utilized 8d ring shank nails spaced 6 o.c. for plywood securement. Panel 1 displayed withdrawal of said nails from structural supports at 165 psf (passing 150 psf), while Panel 2B displayed withdrawal of the base sheet nails from the plywood deck at 135 psf (passing 120 psf) At no point during any of the tests did or display a loss of adhesion from its substrate. 3.2 Samples 3 and 4 were constructed using critical OMG stress plates. 3.3 The use of optional insulation between the coverboard and the deck in Sample 3 would have no bearing on system performance, as the insulation would carry no uplift load. 3.4 The use of alternate type of insulation and/or coverboard between the deck and the base sheet in Sample 4 would have no bearing on system performance, as the insulation and/or coverboard would carry no uplift load. 4. Conclusions: 4.1 TRINITY ERD has tested the specimens outlined in Table 2A, for wind uplift resistance in accordance with FM Standard 4470, Appendix K and FBC TAS 114, Appendix J resulting in the data outlined in Tables 2B -1E. Observations are outlined in Section A summary of systems and maximum design pressures with a 2 to 1 margin of safety are provided in Appendix 1 of this report.

9 Systems Summary: The following notes apply to the systems outlined herein: 1. Roof decks shall be in accordance with FBC requirements to the satisfaction of the AHJ, but not less than that noted herein. 2. For mechanically attached components, the maximum design pressure for the selected assembly shall meet or exceed the Zone 1 design pressure determined in accordance with FBC Chapter 16, and Zones 2 and 3 shall employ a tighter attachment density designed by a qualified design professional to resist the elevated pressure criteria. 3. For insulations not specifically called-out by tradename, the insulation may be any polyisocyanurate, polystyrene, fiberboard or perlite insulation board that meets the quality assurance requirements of F.A.C. Rule 9B-72 and is documented as meeting FBC and, for foam plastic, FBC or , when installed with the roof cover. 4. For mechanically attached components over existing decks, fasteners shall be tested in the existing deck for withdrawal resistance. A qualified design professional shall review the data for comparison to the minimum requirements for the system. Testing and analysis shall be in accordance with TAS 105.
