In 1989, the company started off with technical vinyl floor coverings and the range has since been extended to include LVT design flooring and rubber flooring coverings. 7 Environment The driving force behind our commitment to sustainability is our social responsibility. We accept this responsibility in the holistic sense of the term sustainability, not only in the ecological field, but in the economic and social field, too. Our declared aim is to do our best to play a positive part in shaping the future for generations to come and, in so doing, we would like to be judged primarily on our actions rather than our words. Sustainability: responsibility without limits objectflor flooring is manufactured worldwide on our behalf by specially authorised and certified partners. In this respect, our most important tasks, as a nonmanufacturing company, are to define clear quality and sustainability standards and to monitor compliance with these standards along the whole supply chain. This is achieved by means of both internal and ex-ternal audits. Consequently, all our production sites and their suppliers are certified to the ISO 9001 quality management standard and to the ISO environmental management standard. Our partners are also certified to the international BES 6001 and SA 8000 standards. This certification guarantees responsible procurement with regard to organisational management, supply chain management and environmental and social aspects. 8 Support for the design of certified buildings Product standards: the source for sustainability ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERABLE FLOORING In our opinion, a company s concerns about sustainability should in no way end with its own products of course, this is where they must start, particularly because the sincerity of efforts made in this area is very easy to check: irrespective of whether this concerns consistent compliance with the relevant standards or the environmental compatibility of the raw materials used. As a member of ERFMI, the European Resilient Flooring Manufacturers Institute, objectflor, a company of James Halstead PLC, supports the ideal for sustainable construction and has prepared an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its LVT design flooring. The flooring has been examined in accordance with the EN programme established by the German Institute for Construction and Environment (IBU) for ecological building evaluation. The declarations provide a detailed description of the whole life cycle of the products from the production of raw materials to disposal. They can be obtained from the Institute for Construction and Environment s website ( The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) also provides all important information regarding product characteristics of relevance to the product life cycle on its online platform DGNB-Navigator. Products registered with a complete dataset and EPD in Navigator receive the DGNB-Navigator label. Flooring from the EXPONA Collection has been given the DGNB- Navigator label to demonstrate the highest level of data transparency and information can be downloaded using the registration codes 9U83HM (EXPONA DESIGN), M4GRP4 (EXPONA COMMERCIAL) and T5ND4S (EXPONA DOMESTIC). objectflor flooring from the TECHNICAL VINYL FLOORING range is also covered by environmental product declarations issued by PE International in cooperation with ERFMI and its members. These declarations are also published on the Institute for Construction and Environment s website. All objectflor flooring has the prescribed CE mark as a European declaration of conformity. Our flooring also has building authority approval from the German Institute for Construction Engineering (DIBt) and consequently complies with the system specified by the Committee for the Assessment of the Effects of Building Products on Human Health. This assessment system sets health-related quality standards for the production of building products intended for indoor use and supports the development of products with particularly low emissions. An annual external inspection of the ingredients and emissions behaviour by the Eurofins Institute, one of Europe s leading service providers in the field of analysis, or the ECO Institute ensures consistent quality. This is indicated by the Ü (inspected quality mark) on the packaging. In France, product tests are performed using the test method in accordance with ISO and the emissions behaviour of VOCs is assessed. All objectflor flooring has been given the best rating A+, meaning it is very low in emissions. In addition all objectflor flooring has the "Indoor Air Comfort Gold" rating. This certificate issued by Eurofins is awarded to products with VOC emission levels below any globally determinded VOC limits. Depending on the product concerned, the flooring is certified with FloorScore, BRE or LEED credits. All objectflor flooring is also 100% recyclable and can be reused in materials and fuel. The recycled materials are integrated into new production insofar as this is possible. Our task: responsibility at every stage Anyone wanting to take sustainability really seriously has to see the bigger picture. In our case, this means that, with regard to optimum indoor air quality, we not only focus on our own products but on the quality and environmental friendliness of the adhesives and fillers used when laying the floor. We are continually examining all current products with regard to their production quality, seal of approval and their environmental certificates. These assessments result in our customers being given regularly updated system design recommendations in accordance with the relevant EC1 or EC1 Plus standard. It is our conviction reasons why our flooring is equipped with particularly easy-care surfaces or surface finishes, reducing the use of detergents to a minimum and consequently optimising life-cycle costs. Within the scope of our sustainability strategy, we would like to do more than just make our own products fit for the future. This is why we are involved in numerous working groups throughout the whole industry in order to further promote the definition of binding framework conditions for sustainable building, together with other responsible companies. 11 LVT design Flooring LVT DESign Flooring With over 25 years experience, objectflor s EXPONA LVT design flooring is technically sophisticated and is available in a wide range of attractive designs. The EXPONA collections are innovative and distinct because they are exclusively developed with designers and design printers. EXPONA LVT tiles and planks consist of individual layers which are thermally pressed. The flooring is coated with a PUR surface treatment. EXPONA LVT design flooring is available in various wear layer thicknesses, so you can choose between the various wear layers to ensure that functionality and cost-effectiveness are in harmony whatever the area of application. EXPONA flooring is easy to clean and is dirt- and moistureresistant. When walking, it also produces a very pleasant, soft sound. The low installation height makes EXPONA LVT design flooring particularly good for renovation work. In terms of design, the low flooring installation heights also open up numerous options. Different areas can be identified or accentuated by using coordinated materials. EXPONA LVT design flooring combines an ever-wider range of authentic wood effects, effective metal designs, interesting stone effects and innovative designs with the excellent easy-care characteristics of modern PVC flooring. 17 LVT design Flooring LVT DESign Flooring The SimpLay Collection from objectflor has all the advantages of design flooring but with no adhesives or click systems. SimpLay is ideal for example for retail areas, hotels or offices and buildings where quick installation is a must! The functionality of the floor area is ensured by the net wight and the special backing structure of the tiles and planks as well as their installation in a composite structure. Also with regard to sustainabilty SimpLay design flooring is particularly interesting. The flooring can be removed easily without leaving any residues and can then be relaid in other places. This is environmentally friendly and saves resources. As no adhesives are required, air emissions are reduced. With 30 designs, SimpLay offers a wide selection of timelessly beautiful wood and stone effects with authentic surface embossing. An additional effect can be achieved with bevelled edges available with all designs. The innovative structure of the SimpLay system allows for an uncompromising loose installation and is an ideal floor covering for many areas. SimpLay tiles and planks consist of individual layers which are thermaly pressed. The flooring is coated with a PUR surface treatment. 19 Technical Vinyl Flooring Technical Vinyl Flooring LVT DESign Flooring POLYFLOR technical flooring provides impressive high-quality flooring in a balanced range of colours for a wide variety of uses. Flooring adapted to special requirements is available with the appropriate technical properties, for example conductive or safety flooring. The range of homogeneous flooring includes classic marbled flooring, such as POLYSAFE PRIMUS 2000 PUR and ULTRA XL PUR as well as chip-patterned flooring in various designs, such as PRESTIGE PUR, TREND PUR, MYSTIQUE PUR. PEARLAZZO PUR provides an interesting alternative with its attractive multi-flake design in 24 up-to-date colours. The PUR surface treatment makes the homogeneous flooring easy to clean and maintain. POLYSAFE MOSAIC PUR is tough, patterned safety flooring for areas requiring increased slip resistance. The heterogeneous flooring range includes two attractive types of flooring with POLYFLOR LIGNO FX PUR compact flooring with up-to-date wood effects and MINERAL FX PUR with micro-granite effects in appropriate colour combinations. The ESD flooring range provides static dissipative flooring with PRIMUS 2000 SD and conductive flooring with CONDUCTIV EC. In line with the working methods and vision of designers and architects, objectflor has arranged for the full range of technical flooring to be adapted to the widespread natural colour system (NCS). 32 LVT design Flooring LVT DESign Flooring LVT DESIGN FLOORING a totally new approach to care homes for the aged Vintage carpets and rose patterns, high-quality flooring design from objectflor and colourful seating to catch the eye: the Belgian care home for the aged Koala demonstrates that a homely atmosphere, committed care and trendy interior design can work very well together. Design is of particular importance in the Benelux countries and can even be seen in buildings where you would not expect to find it. The TURBOZEN firm of architects from East Flanders designs care homes for the aged to be very modern and stylish, but not in the traditional sense. A pleasant brightness brought about by large light fittings is always a major part of the concept as well as objectflor s flooring design with modern wood effects. Woonzorkcentrum Koala provides accommodation for 120 residents and is for the elderly who are no longer able to live on their own. The interior design gives the impression that this is luxury accommodation when it is a totally normal care home for the aged but with an innovative and harmonious overall concept. For the reception area, dining room, library and corridors along the atrium, the architects from TURBOZEN chose two colour-coordinated wood effects from the EXPONA DESIGN collection for public buildings. The Black Elm design defines the dining area. The other areas are designed with the warm shade Honey Ash. For the various levels, rooms and communal areas with kitchens, a noble grey wood effect from the EXPONA DOMESTIC collection was chosen; firstly, this matches the different types of furniture and furnishing styles of the residents and, secondly, it fits in with the colour schemes on the different floors because the vintage patterned carpets are in a different colour on each floor so it is easier to find your way around. Wood effects create a special ambiance A wide range of possible activities and therapies is supported by the use of modern communications technology and is individually adapted to the wellbeing of each resident. All rooms have an Internet connection because elderly people are increasingly using facilities such as Skype. The high-quality furnishings are definitely part of a concept based on wellbeing. The colours selected for this extremely robust technical flooring are well-suited to modern architectural concepts. High demands are placed on university flooring because, every day, thousands of students make their way between institutes and auditoriums. Highly robust and cost-effective flooring, which gives the corridors and rooms a friendly appearance, is usually required for these areas of heavy traffic. In the case of new buildings, architects want flooring in up-to-date colours and designs which also blend in with the style of architecture. The fact that the various designs in the POLYFLOR Collection fully meet these requirements is seen in the references of recent years. secondly the clear, bright colour of the brick-red flooring impressively goes with the slightly lighter shade of the wall covering. When Bratislava University was being fitted out, the decision was also for POLYFLOR, in this case for Primus 2000 PUR in various shades of grey, complemented with selected accent colours. In the seemingly traditional lecture hall, the discreet flooring emphasises the effect of the classic wood panelling. The cost-effective care and high quality of the flooring are particularly important aspects when considering how to furnish public buildings.
