2 Strength Testing EJA Vantage 1 (1kN) / EJA Vantage 5 (5 kn)tensile Testers The EJA Vantage 1 & 5, offer the latest design in universal materials tensile testers. They are powerful computer-controlled instruments with the flexibility to perform a wide range of tests to capacities of 1 kn (225 lbs) and 5 kn (1000 lbs) respectively. 3 Strength Testing Vantage ZDT Tester The Vantage ZDT Tester is a compact, precision PC-controlled instrument that measures the internal bond strength of paper, paperboard, liner board and carton board. Vantage Tissue Burst Tester The Burst Tester is designed with Vantage electronics. It is ideal for testing resistance to burst of paper tissue, toweling and nonwovens. TALAS Test Software TALAS is an optional software package that interfaces with the Friction/Peel Tester via the RS-232 port. It analyzes recorded measurements, facilitates the storage onto a hard or floppy disk and allows the graphical representation of the measured data. ProTear Elmendorf Tester (Electronic/Mechanical/Heavy Duty) The Elmendorf tear tester provides more information on tearing properties than any other instrument. Box Compression Tester P4000-M Model P-4000M determines the crushing resistance of boxes and is used for quality control and R&D. 8 Physical Testing Instruments PocketGoniometer (Contact Angle), PG-1 / PG-2 / PG-3 The PocketGoniometer concept consists of a series of affordable contact angle testers. They range from fully mechanical (PG-1) to automated testing with video analysis. They are ideal for flat substrates that can be cut into sample strips for testing. PGX Contact Angle Tester The PGX provides a quick contact angle measurement on virtually any size or shape surface. It detects moisture content by reflecting near-infrared light at a high speed via a sensor cable with fiber optics. Ideal for measuring drying times of inks and coatings. Bending Resistenace/Stiffness Tester Model 4171D/E Model 4171D/E, measures the force required to bend a wide variety of flat materials under controlled and repeatable conditions. This force may be equated to stiffness, resilience, flexibility or pliability, depending on the nature of the materials and purpose of the test. 9 Sample Preparation Tools JDC Precision Sample Cutter The JDC has become the accepted standard for most corporations worldwide for preparing samples of paper, paperboard, metal foils, nonwovens, films, tissue and a variety of other materials. The JDC cuts test strips to an exact width and parallel throughout their entire length. Model 98 Elmendorf Sample Cutter Quickly prepares uniform samples for Elmendorf tear testing. Dual blade cutting action ensures tight control over sample preparation. Model 98 cuts a sample that is 63 mm (2.48 in) wide and up to mm (6 in) long. ALFA Model cuts samples with a single press of the operation lever. It is ideal for paper, paperboard, foil and rubber. The ALFA cutters utilize interchangeable steel rule dies that can be configured in a number of shapes and quantities of test samples up to the maximum cutting area of the ALFA unit. The maximum cutting area for the ALFA is x mm (8 x 8 in). ALFA 240-7A Pneumatically operated, this cutter quickly prepares test samples of tissue paper, light non-wovens, plastic and rubber films, heavy papers, cardboard and foils. The ALFA cutters utilize interchangeable steel rule dies that can be configured in a number of shapes and quantities of test samples up to the maximum cutting area of the ALFA unit. 14 Pulp Preparation Tools Freeness Tester This Tester determines the rate of drainage of a diluted pulp suspension. The rate of drainage is related to the work done on the fiber during beating or refining Maelstrom Laboratory Pulper (Model H-100) A complete line of stainless steel laboratory pulpers is available. Model H-100 is the standard pulper and can work in the consistency range of 0-7%. Other pulpers are available which provide up to a 15% consistency level or up to 1800 grams at 6% consistency.
