This nonwoven has proven time and again that it meets and exceeds the demands of the most diverse and challenging applications. All Colback nonwovens feature a unique structure of thermally bonded bi-component (skin-core) filaments. Thanks to in-house expertise and experience, we can tailor Colback nonwovens to suit specific manufacturing processes and the requirements of complex finished products. 4 Colback primary backing The quality of a tufted carpet is largely determined by the primary backing, which acts as the carrier for the carpet construction throughout the entire manufacturing process. Premium carpet tiles, dust control mats, runners, patterned broadloom carpets and car carpets call for a high-stability primary backing; Colback has unrivalled stability, making it ideal for such demanding applications. 5 CARPET TILES In both residential and commercial buildings, carpet tiles offer highly individual and innovative designs yet are also easy to store, transport and install. Colback excels in this sector due to its outstanding and consistent stability that facilitates continuous manufacture and delivers low process costs. The superior penetration of the precoat in Colback ensures excellent anchorage of yarn and tile backing layers. The bonding of Colback filaments at every interface and the thorough pre-coat penetration deliver outstanding structural stability that in turn ensures a clean cut to minimize joint visibility. Excellent anchorage BROADLOOM CARPETS Individual design trends in high-class wall-to-wall carpeting call for a variety of patterns to be created by tufting or printing. Good pattern definition is a must and depends on high stability in the carpet matrix. Colback delivers this stability, keeping graphic patterns absolutely straight with no bowing, making a correction roller unnecessary. To date, no other primary backing can match the performance of Colback in this respect. The polyamide filament skin ensures superior latex penetration resulting in excellent pile anchorage. The polyester/polyamide combination contributes to flame retardancy and reduces the need for retardant additives in the latex coating. 6 Colback primary backing DUST CONTROL MATS AND RUNNERS Dust control mats and runners are subjected to the most intense usage. High performance components are essential to cope with the continual scuffing, twisting and impact of frequent cleaning. Due to its high thermal stability, Colback primary backing allows easy and efficient vulcanizing with rubber or PVC coating to deliver the toughness required. Thanks to its universally bonded filaments, the bi-component Colback structure can be cut cleanly and easily with no fraying. The high tear strength and excellent mass consistency of Colback primary backings also cut costs as tufting can be successfully carried out on a reduced weight primary backing. An extensive range of Colback backings from 70 to 135 g/m 2 offers the right product for every application: CAR MATS Car mats must meet a number of challenging demands such as resistance to bowing and abrasion. The primary backing plays a vital role in delivering the required properties. Thanks to its particularly high stability which prevents bowing and curling, Colback is the ideal choice. Due to the excellent structural consistency and high tear strength of Colback, a lower weight primary backing can be specified reducing costs significantly. With its PA-6 skin which has good latex affinity, Colback primary backing also delivers optimal pile anchorage, resulting in high abrasion resistance for the finished carpet. 6

7 % of after shrinkage MD CD Colback Pro (PET/PP bi-co) MOLDED CAR CARPETS As a premium product, Colback is mainly used in executive class cars where quality and performance are of prime importance. In mid and lower class cars, the high performance of Colback allows the application of lower weight primary backings and the use of smaller blank sheet sizes, thus reducing the cost of the finished product. To meet the specific requirements of molded car carpets, Colbond has developed variants of Colback that provide enhanced mechanical properties to accept the extreme elongations in complex parts (e.g. tunnel area) without pile drifting. Paired with filament mass consistency and uniformly high quality, these properties help to minimize the percentage of rejected parts and reduce the total cost of the molding process. The latest innovation already in use on several platforms of leading European car MD CD manufacturers is Colback Pro. This product has a PP skin in place of the PA-6 skin to produce a construction that can be molded to higher elongations at lower forces. This product expands the Colback automotive product range with backings suitable for use at lower molding temperatures and shorter cycle times. Furthermore, car carpets using other PET/PP nonwoven Colback Pro meet the highest standards for after shrinkage. The maximum width of 525 cm (all Colback types) is another valuable feature allowing parallel tufting of up to three sections for increased manufacturing capacity and reduced production costs.
