2 For Immediate Release By Mallory Sikes Area Extension Agent 4-H Youth Development and Livestock/Range Management Phone: (719) Southeast Area Extension Seedling Tree Order Deadline is March 10, 2017 It's hard to believe it is already time to begin planning those spring tree planting projects! Seedling Tree Order forms are available at the Baca County Extension Office until March 10th. By networking with the Colorado State Forest Service, Baca County residents as well as our surrounding neighbors are able to order from over 50 native species of bare root and container seedlings, and 15 species of perennial wildflowers and grasses at a low cost in order to assist with their conservation efforts, with NO ACREAGE REQUIREMENT. Whether you are looking to create a windbreak, replace trees in a current wind break, plant a living snow fence, reforest your property after last year s hail storms, or add wildflowers and grasses to your landscape, Colorado State Forest Service likely has a solution for you. Inventories are limited and selling out quickly, so the sooner you place an order, the better. More information, and current inventories can be found at or are available in the Baca County Extension Office located at 700 Colorado Street. Colorado State University Extension office hours in Baca County are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions concerning the seedling tree program, completing order forms, selecting trees, planting trees, or if we can be of any assistance please contact the Extension Office at or coopext_baca@mail.colostate.edu or stop by and see us. We hope to receive your orders soon! County Extension Offices Baca County 700 Colorado St. Springfield, CO Bent County 1499 Amb. Thompson Blvd. Las Animas, CO Cheyenne County 425 S. 7 th W. P. O. We produce low cost, seedlings for conservation efforts, and proudly serve the Fort Collins, Colorado area directly from the nursery. If you do not live in the Fort Collins area, but are interested in obtaining any of the seedlings we produce, we encourage you to contact a cooperating agency near you. These cooperating agencies, which are comprised of Colorado State Forest Service District Offices, University Extension offices, and Natural Resource Conservation District offices, accept tree orders, and receive deliveries from the nursery each spring. In addition to providing a more local point for customers to pick up seedlings, these agencies can offer insight into which plant species will work well in the area they serve. Many also offer additional services which can be of great value for anyone interested in improving their land. For more information, or to find a cooperator in your area, please check online at:
