5 Page 55 Kevin Vincent THAT Council does hereby approve closure of George Avenue between Rea Street and Waterloo Road from800am June to800am June for the Cancer Relay for Life AND FURTHER THAT liability insurance in the amount of 2 million dollars be provided naming the City of Timmins as aco insured Gary Scripnick Denis Saudino WHEREAS the DeBeers Victor Project is of great economic importance to the City of Timmins AND WHEREAS DeBeers has completed its environmental assessment for the project and is in the process of responding to issues raised under the EA AND WHEREAS Council is concerned that this economic opportunity may be put in jeopardy because of delays created by governmentregulatioris NOW THEREFORE BE IT resolved that Council for the Corporation of the City of Timmins does hereby petition the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario to expedite this very important mining project that will create economic opportunities for a large number of communities in the District of Cochrane and James Bay area in the quickest time period possible in order that this project may receive its approvals and permits to commence work in the fall of 2004 AND FURTHER that copies of this resolution be sent to the Honourable Paul Martin Prime Minister of Canada the Honourable Dalton McGuinty Premier of Ontario the Honourable David Anderson Federal Minister of the Environment the Honourable Leona Dombrowsky Provincial Minister of the Environment the Honourable Rick Bartolucci Minister of Northern Development Bisson MPP Timmins James Bay Mines and Gilles Bill Gvozdanovic Seconded Yves Malette by THAT Council does hereby approve payment of the NEOMA 2004 Membership in the amount of 300 John P Curley THAT payment of accounts as listed on Sheet Nos 1 to 19 for the period of April 1 to April amounting to be hereby approved Yves Malette That Council for the Corporation of the City of Timmins does hereby appoint a Water Safety Committee to review existing policies protocols and physical infrastructures with the purpose of preventing any future vandalism to the City s water supply system And Further that the committee be comprised of the following representation r City of Timmins Council 2 Administration 2 Porcupine Health Unit 2 Ministry of the Environment 1 Timmins Police Services 1 AND the Mayor as an ex officio member
