Ontario CoR - Who are we The Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party WHO ARE WE? The CoR party of Ontario was established in May 1990 and we did quite well in the provincial election that took place a few weeks later. The "Confederation of Regions" name comes from our recognition that regions of our country have different economic and social interests and we are aware of that fact. CoR places emphasis on real democracy and the need to ensure politicians do not ignore the people in favor of party solidarity or the self serving need to be reelected. 3:33:07 PM

Ontario CoR - Leadership The Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party LEADERSHIP No brand name professional politicians, no leadership conventions. If we could get a caucus, the caucus would choose who should be leader. We are a "grass roots" organization. All changes are with the approval of members. CoR has two general meetings annually, one in May and one in October with other meetings being held as required. We often have a Christmas dinner meeting. 3:33:07 PM

Ontario CoR - Values The Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party VALUES Care for the environment Conservation of renewable and non-renewable resources are needed at the appropriate level for our resources. CoR favours sustainable development for renewable resources. We are concerned about water and the CoR party would work to prevent bulk sale of our water to other countries. In rural Ontario many wells are dry every summer with the water table very low in CoR deplores the inadequate treatment of waste and sewage and would have the problems addressed Appreciation of our heritage Confederation of Regions Party believes that the history of Ontario should be taught in schools. We believe that historical sites and buildings should be protected and maintained. CoR believes that our heritage should be protected and maintained. Canadian heritage & traditions should be cherished and promoted, not abolished. (1 of 3)03/10/2007 3:33:07 PM

Ontario CoR - Values Individual freedom and responsibility CoR values freedom for everyone, all being equal under the law. At the same time CoR recognizes that with freedom comes responsibility. Responsible parliamentary government CoR wants the provincial Government to respond to the wishes of the people it represents. Hence, the call for referenda initiated by the people and binding on the part of government. Community problems should be solved locally; the fairest, most effective and cheapest solution. CoR favours a petition system enabling citizens to initiate provincewide referenda on laws and other issues of concern with the results binding on government. Common law The Confederation of Regions Party deplores the replacement of our inherited laws by a civil code. Our laws had developed over thousands of years through Greek, Roman and British Society. Why should we give up our rights to the whims of a few people. (2 of 3)03/10/2007 3:33:07 PM

Ontario CoR - Values (3 of 3)03/10/2007 3:33:07 PM

Ontario CoR - Policies The Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party POLICIES Direct Democracy The CoR party favours referenda initiated by the people and binding upon the government. Also recall from office of elected MPPs who fail to vote on issues according to the wishes of their constituents. Elections on a Regular Basis CoR advocates that elections should take place on a regular basis. A set term for government may be pre-empted by a no confidence vote. Responsible fiscal management by government CoR deplores government waste. CoR believes there should be a greater degree of accountability on the use of the taxpayers money. (1 of 3)03/10/2007 3:33:08 PM

Ontario CoR - Policies Adequately funded and efficiently run health care CoR's plan for health care would give individuals more responsibility over their own health care. There would be some costs that people could afford, but no charges for devastating illnesses which could ruin people financially. We are not, however, in support of a two tier health care system. Single publicly funded school system CoR believes in providing the same education for all citizens. If parents want something different for their children, they are free to provide it. English official language of Ontario CoR would hold a referendum on Bill 8, The French Language Services Act. English is the official language of Ontario and CoR would keep it that way. People may use whatever language they wish, but documents relating to business, financial records and licenses would be in English. We do not favour officially funded multiculturalism We do not favour officially funded multiculturalism. We do not agree with "unity in diversity." CoR believes encouraging diversity is divisive. Certainly people should be free to celebrate whatever they wish but not at (2 of 3)03/10/2007 3:33:08 PM

Ontario CoR - Policies public expense. Protection of agricultural land By controlling our own food supply we stand a better chance of knowing what we are eating. The CoR party will support programs which encourage farmers to stay on the land, ie making it possible to earn a living. Good agricultural land must not be encroached on by developers (urban sprawl). CoR is not in favour of genetically altered food. Finance We are not opposed to big business or people making a return on their investment. We are opposed to takeovers by large international conglomerates, with out obligation to observe our laws. We are opposed to militant socialism in the form of undisciplined unions driving companies to upstakes and leave the country. CoR believes in fair negotiations. We are against the politics of covetousness. (3 of 3)03/10/2007 3:33:08 PM
