3 Economy of Brazil Brazil's economy is on the rise and compared to other countries in South America is very powerful and is leading the other countries. Its economy is so strong because of its abundant supply in agriculture, mining, and service sectors. Because of the falling real wages during 2001 to 2003 Brazils economy did not collapse because of the economic policies and programs made by President Cursodo but strengthened by President LuLa Da Silva.and has been undergoing continuous economic growth from 2004 which led to a rise in employment and real wages. Brazils Economic System is based on a floating exchange rate, regime that is inflation targeting and compressed fiscal policy. GDP is $1.6 trillion dollars GDP growth rate is 3.7% unemployment rate is 9.6% and inflation 3%. Major industries are textiles, shoes, chemicals, aircraft, steel, motor vehicles, and Agricultural.
4 Government of Brazil Federal Republic The Government is governed under the 1988 constitution The president is elected by voting and is head of state and head of government but is only elected for 2 or 4 years. There is a Bicameral Legislature that consists of an Upper Federal Senate and a Lower Chamber of Deputies. 81 senators are elected for 8 years and the 513 deputies are elected for 4 years. Brazil is devided into 26 states and 1 federal district. The main parties are: Brazilian Democratic Movement Party, The Liberal Front Party, The Democratic Labor Party, The Brazilian Social Democracy Party, and The Workers Party.

Families tend to be large but the size of families have been becoming smaller during recent years. Brazil has a diverse social class system, few Brazilians are racists but there is a daily discrimination towards people with dark skin. woman make up 40% of the workforce but they are mainly lower paid jobs in 1988 constitution prohibits discrimination against woman but discrimination still exists and the one place woman are achieving equality is the government. Men usually shake hands when they greet each other and woman usually kiss each others cheeks.
7 Brazil on the J-curve Brazil is considered an emerging market and is becoming more and more open. Brazil is moving towards a more moderate political view and they are getting involved in political reform. Brazil is economically and politically becoming more open.
