Mr. Wang and his team performed a literature review that documented challenges encountered by various utility partners with different types of source water (e.g. activated sludge process, membranebioreactor,nitrified/denitrifiedeffluent versus non^fully nitrified effluent and others) treated at Advanced Water Purification Facilities (AWPFs). Operating data from the research project sutilitypartnerswasanalyzedtoquantify upstream wastewater treatment impacts on the performanceatawpfsandevaluatetheimpactof processes at OCWD. Based on the data analyzed, thendnsecondaryeffluentenhancedperformance at OCWD s AWPF (e.g. lower transmembrane pressure for the microfiltration system and lower differential pressure in the reverse osmosis system)duetolowerturbidity/solidscontentand potentiallylessorganicmatterinthesourcewater to the AWPF.
