Decorate with acrylic paints. Must be sealed with a commercial water sealant to waterproof. Fires beautifully in reduction, wood, salt and soda. Shrinkage: 9% at C/6, 9.5% at C/10 Absorption: 4.3% at C/6, 1.5% at C/10

18 High-Fire Stoneware Clays continued: Hestia (Cone 7-10) Contains two different fire clays and 6% fine mullite. Handles beautifully. Good for both throwing, altering and handbuilding. Fires beautifully in reduction, wood, salt and soda. Shrinkage: 11% at C/6, 12% at C/10 Absorption: 1% at C/6, <1% at C/10 Loafers Glory (Cone 7-10) Very popular porcelain-like clay with the attitude of a stoneware. It is very smooth, a joy to throw and takes glazes extremely well. No grog. Shrinkage: 12% at C/7, 12.5% at C/10 Absorption: 3.9% at C/7, <1% at C/10 Moon White (Cone 7-10) A very smooth, light firing, dreamy clay to throw. Contains 12% super fine kyanite for strength. Shrinkage: 10.5% at C/6, 12% at C/10 Absorption: 6.1% at C/6, 2.7% at C10 Orangestone (Cone 7-10) This clay takes you back to the 60's when the clays were full of tactile and visual appeal. Our darkest reduction stoneware. 9% fine mullite. Shrinkage: 10% at C/6, 11% at C/10 Absorption: 4.8% at C/6, 1.3% at C/10 Phoenix (Cone 7-10) All around great stoneware body for throwing and hand building, this is one clay that seems to throw itself. It has a good amount of tooth without being rough on beginners hands. Fine mullite grog has excellent thermal shock properties making Phoenix a superior choice for ovenware. It also works nicely for a smooth raku body. In reduction, Phoenix fires a toasty light gray. In oxidation, Phoenix fires to a warm buff tone. Shrinkage: 11% at C/6, 12% at C/10 Absorption: 3.9% at C/6, <1% at C/10 Raku Clays: Raku (Cone 06-6) Extremely versatile. In addition to standing up to the abuse of raku firing, this clay body performs well from earthenware to mid-stoneware range. 13% medium kyanite for tooth and stability. Shrinkage: 6.5% at C/06, 10.5% at C/6 Absorption: 15.2% at C/06, 1.9% at C/6

19 Cassius Basaltic (Cone 5) Fired Shrinkage is 14.5% and Water Absorption is.5% when fired to cone 5. Very black, ebony like finish. Needs lots of oxygen during bisque firing. Dixon Sculpture (Cone 5) Fired Shrinkage is 8% and Water Absorption is 5% when fired to cone 5. The coarsest - the finest. This is the ultimate sculpture body for cone five. Rich rust--brown in oxidation. Terra Red (Cone 5) Fired Shrinkage is 12.5% and Water Absorption is 6% when fired to cone 5. A very warm orange-red terra cotta colored cone five stoneware. While the clay is textured, it feels very smooth while throwing or hand building. The blend of color, tooth, and workability you have been looking for. Black Mountain (Cone 10) Fired Shrinkage is 12% and Water Absorption is 1% when fired to cone 10. A deep brown/black clay, medium in texture. Great for the wheel. Needs lots of oxygen during the bisque firing to avoid bloating in the glaze firing. Coleman Porcelain (Cone 10) Fired Shrinkage is 13.5% and Water Absorption is 0% when fired to cone 10. A true Grolleg body developed by Tom Coleman. Excellent fit with most glazes, very translucent when thin, great for large pieces. Probably the best domestically produced porcelain you will ever find. Fat Red (Cone 10) Fired Shrinkage is 12% and Water Absorption is 3% when fired to cone 10. A rich brown, smooth throwing body.
