2 The Need for Integrated Product Policy Today s s most important worldwide environmental concerns are: Not enough drinking water for all humans, Not enough resources for all countries to ensure a normal life, Not enough energy for all countries, and Air pollution, hazardous waste and climate change / global warming. Products are the main source for environmental aspects and impacts. We must extend environmental protection to all life cycle phases considering all environmental aspects across all life cycle phases. This is the Integrated Product Policy (IPP). Companies like Agfa, Philips and Siemens can demonstrate with IPP it is possible to Improve business performance and Reduce adverse environmental aspects at the same time! During the conception and specification phases, consider innovative ive emerging or alternative technologies and/or solutions that significantly reduce adverse environmental aspects. Assess results and achievement of targets based on a final prototype. type. Assess deviations from the targets and document for consideration n in future designs.
