3 16/10/2014 Commitment for 2014 & Beyond EAD I Local I Regional I Global Engagement & Facilitation Eye on Earth Continued facilitation and development of the Eye on Earth community through the eight Special Initiatives (SI s) announced at the inaugural summirt in 2011 Developed to support the SI s, the Eye on Earth Alliance convenes stakeholders across environmental, social and economic sectors to collaborate and address sustainable development goals Eye on Earth Summit 2015 the first Alliance Summit a platform for thought leaders/influencers with diverse expertise to convene, collaborate and return home with a commitment to realize the EoE vision Background to Program EAD I Local I Regional I Global Engagement & Facilitation AGEDI launched a follow-up to this initial study in 2011 with the aim of establishing a climate change work programme that could build upon, expand, and deepen understanding of vulnerability to the impacts of climate change as well as to identify practical adaptive responses at local, national and regional levels. A 5-stage stakeholder consultative process involving nearly 100 stakeholders helped define the overall scope of the programme, and establish the types of outputs that were considered to be the most useful for future policymaking at the multiple scales envisioned. 3
