2 LIFE Programme The LIFE Programme is the EU s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. It contributes to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects.

4 LIFE Programme in Greece Since the launch of the LIFE programme by the European Commission in 1992 and until 2016, a total of 239 projects have been co-financed with a Greek beneficiary as a Coordinator. The total investment of these projects amounts to 326 million, of which the EU's contribution is 174,5 million.

8 NATURE Thematic priorities: activities for the implementation of Directives 92/43/EEC and 2009/147/EC in particular: i) activities aimed at improving the conservation status of habitats and species, including marine habitats and species, and bird species, of Union interest, ii) iii) Nature / Biodiversity (1/4) activities in support of the Natura 2000 network biogeographical seminars, integrated approaches for the implementation of prioritised action frameworks. 15 Climate Action (3/3) Climate Governance and Information Awareness raising on climate matters, including generating public and stakeholder support of Union policy-making in the field of climate, promoting knowledge on sustainable development Communication, management and dissemination of information in the field of climate, facilitation of knowledge sharing on successful climatic solutions and practice Contribution to more effective compliance with and enforcement of Union Climate legislation promotion the development and dissemination of best practices & policy approaches Improvement of Climate Governance, broadening stakeholder involvement, incl.
