PETROL flowmeters have been legally approved with D.M. 28/07/70 n , whose copy is hereto attached. This approval foresees that the first verification is made directly in the plant or, alternatively, at the manufacturer factory, in this case, however, an additional verification in the plant is needed. 2. The liquid medium used at factory for performance test is water added with some percentage of oil, for the further protection of cast iron/steel parts of PD flowmeters - C5 and - C8 versions or Agip calibration fluid. B. TEST STATION 1. In order to provide the performance test of mod. 51 and mod. 11 PD flowmeters it is used a closed-type hydraulic circuit, which includes the under detailed equipment. 100 litres capacity calibrated tank; centrifugal pump, complete with by-pass and valves to adjust the flow-rate; stainless steel reservoir, 200 litres capacity about. 2. TEST'S PROCEDURE 1. Batches of about 100 litres are delivered into the calibrated tank, in such a way that at the end of each batch, the level of liquid falls within the graduated portion of calibrated tank neck. 2. Volume (Vm) flown through PD flowmeter, as shown by PD flowmeter counter, is compared with the volume (Vc) as shown by calibrated tank. 3. Through the formula: Vm - Vc x 100 = E% Vc the error of PD flowmeter, as percentage, is calculated. 4. Should calculated value of E% be greater than that required, PD flowmeter calibration is changed by replacing the calibrating gear, which is an integrant part of reduction gear train (calibration by gear replacing). D. SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS 1. Should the PD flowmeter be required for service on liquids with viscosity value greater than 10 cp the calculated value E% must be lower of about 0,5% of the required accuracy value at operating flow-rate; this is to compensate the slippage reduction, at operating conditions, between the rotors themselves and between the rotors and the measuring chamber. 2. Should the PD flowmeter be required for service on liquids with viscosity value greater than 10 cp the calculated value E% will remain almost steady till a minimum flow-rate equal to 10% of the maximum flow-rate printed in the nameplate o o o o o Aprilia, 04/14.

Batches of about 1000 litres are delivered into the calibrated tank, in such a way that, at the end of each batch, the level of liquid falls within the graduated portion of calibrated tank neck. 2. Volume (Vm) flown through PD flowmeter, as shown by PD flowmeter counter, is compared with the volume (Vc) as shown by calibrated tank. 3. TEST'S PROCEDURE 1. At the beginning of test the level of liquid is positioned close or on "zero" graduation of calibrated tank bottom neck. 2. Batches of about 5000 litres are delivered into the calibrated tank, in such a way that, at the end of each batch, the level of liquid falls within the graduated portion of calibrated tank neck. 3. Volume (Vm) flown through PD flowmeter, as shown by PD flowmeter counter, is compared with the volume (Vc) as shown by calibrated tank. 4. Through the formula: Vm - Vc x 100 = E% Vc the error of PD flowmeter, as percentage, is calculated. 5. PETROL PD flowmeters have been legally approved with D.M. 28/07/70 n that foresees the first verification directly on site and, alternatively, at manufacturer factory, in this case however an additional verification on site is needed. 2. The liquid medium used for the performance test at factory is water. B. TEST STATION 1. The performance test station for PD flowmeters mod. 28, 110, 112, 212, 612 and 114 is a closed-type hydraulic circuit which includes the underdetailed equipment: calibrated tank with a capacity of liters; centrifugal pump complete with by-pass and valves to adjust the flow-rate; steel tank with a capacity of about liters. 2. Batches of about liters are delivered into the calibrated tank, in such a way that at the end of each batch the liquid level falls within the graduated portion of the calibrated tank top neck. 2. The volume measured by the PD flowmeter (Vm) and registered by the PD flowmeter counter is compared with the volume of the liquid in the calibrated tank (Vc). 3. Through the formula: Vm - Vc x 100 = E% Vc is calculated the percentage error of the PD flowmeter. 4. Should calculated value E% be greater than that required, PD flowmeter calibration is changed by replacing the calibrating gear inside the reduction gear assembly, in the mechanical counter, or by replacing the K-factor in the electronic counter. D. SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS 1. Should the PD flowmeter be required for service on liquids with viscosity value greater than 10 cp the calculated value E% must be lower of about 0,5% of the required accuracy value at operating flow-rate; this is to compensate the slippage reduction, at operating conditions, between the rotors themselves and between the rotors and the measuring chamber. 2.
