CBEE Definitions: Chemical Engineer What Chemical Engineers Do Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics, and math to solve problems that involve the production or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and many other products. They design processes and equipment for large-scale safe and sustainable manufacturing, plan and test methods of manufacturing products and treating byproducts, and supervise production. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 1
CBEE Definitions: Chemical Engineer Work Environment Chemical engineers work mostly in offices or laboratories. They may spend time at industrial plants, refineries, and other locations, where they monitor or direct operations or solve onsite problems. Nearly all chemical engineers work full time. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 2
CBEE Definitions: Biomedical Engineer What Biomedical Engineers Do Biomedical engineers analyze and design solutions to problems in biology and medicine, with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care. Work Environment Biomedical engineers work in manufacturing, universities, hospitals, research facilities of companies and educational and medical institutions, and government regulatory agencies. They usually work full time. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 3
CBEE Definitions: Environmental Engineer What Environmental Engineers Do Environmental engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They are involved in efforts to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 4
CBEE Definitions: Environmental Engineer Work Environment Environmental engineers work in a variety of settings because of the nature of the tasks they do. When they are working with other engineers and urban and regional planners, environmental engineers are likely to be in offices. When they are carrying out solutions through construction projects, they are likely to be at construction sites. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 5
CBEE Definitions: Environmental Engineer Technicians What Environmental Engineering Technicians Do Environmental engineering technicians carry out the plans that environmental engineers develop. They test, operate, and, if necessary, modify equipment used to prevent or clean up environmental pollution. They may collect samples for testing, or they may work to mitigate sources of environmental pollution. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 6
CBEE Definitions: Environmental Engineer Technicians Work Environment Most environmental engineering technicians work full time. They typically work indoors, usually in laboratories, and often have regular working hours. However, they must sometimes work irregular hours in order to monitor operations. All definitions come from the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics ( 7
