2 Greater Peterborough Area Community Sustainability Plan adopted in 2012 by all 12 collaborative partners: City of Peterborough County of Peterborough 8 member Townships Curve Lake First Nation Hiawatha First Nation funded by OTF, GMF, Rural Secretariat, + opened the door for further funding & program opportunities SP established 11 theme areas with 18 priority actions
3 Climate Change Theme Priority Action: To become active members in the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) Program to establish baseline greenhouse gas emissions, set a reduction target, and create a climate change action plan. Goal: To reduce our contributions to climate change while increasing our ability to adapt to changing conditions.
4 1. Establish a GHG inventory and forecast complete November Set emission reduction targets seeking Council adoption today 3. Develop a local action plan seeking Council adoption today 4. Implement the local action plan FCM Partners for Climate Protection began with hiring a CCAP Implementation Coordinator, Kaitlyn Ittermann, who is based out of the County 5. 19 Council Resolution That Council approve the following recommendation: a) That the presentation by Lura Consulting be received for information; b) That the draft Greater Peterborough Area Climate Change Action Plan be adopted; and c) That the Township of Douro-Dummer s Community Sector and Corporate (Municipal) Sector emission reduction targets of 29% and 32% respectively, and associated local action plan be adopted.
