No: WD S5-NL-LET Unique Number: HNP20211R FOR THE ATTENTION OF DR RICHARD SAVAGE, CHIEF NUCLEAR INSPECTOR Dear Dr Savage, Application for Nuclear Site Licence for Wylfa Newydd Power Station On behalf of Horizon Nuclear Power Wylfa Limited (Horizon) (a company incorporated in England and Wales, registered under Company No ), I hereby apply for a Nuclear Site Licence pursuant to Section 1(1) of the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 (as amended) (the Application). The Application is to install and operate new nuclear installations on Horizon s site on Anglesey in North Wales. The grid reference for a significant point on the site (the approximate centre) is SH In support of this Application, I enclose an Application Package that includes an Overview Document and supporting documents. The Overview Document introduces the Application and the supporting documents contained within it. The new nuclear installations, which are more fully described in the Application Package, in summary will utilise the UK Advanced Boiling Water Reactor design, and will include two thermal neutron reactors together with any machinery, equipment, appliance, and storage facilities required for the operation thereof. The reactors are fuelled with uranium dioxide enriched with the isotope Uranium-235, and moderated and cooled by water. The new installations will be known as the Wylfa Newydd Power Station. The Application has been prepared and reviewed in accordance with Horizon s internal processes to ensure that the information it contains is complete and accurate in all material respects.
