2 COMPANY PROFILE: The Crystalline Chemical Industries (Pvt) Ltd established in 2002 belongs to a very dynamic and vertically growing group of companies whose primary mission is to be performance proven leaders in the manufacture of Sugar, industrial alcohol and medicine manufacturing, with recognition coming from our customers, our equity holders, our employees and the general public at large. 4 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: The first ISO 9001: 2000 certification in 2005 was also made the basis of the ultimate goal of total quality management. At the same time, the concept of Quality Improvement was introduced in various departments. The performance of different departments is also monitored quarterly and cash awards and certificates of achievement given to the top performing team. The quality of the product is being monitored and checked by the SGS, an internationally recognized institution of Quality Standards. Furthermore the company is now ISO certified by Moody International an internationally recognized institution for ISO certifications. And what does being ISO certified mean? We realize that we live in a world where resources are finite and the eco-system has a limited capacity to absorb the load mankind is placing on it. That is why we make every effort to make sustainable development a reality. Some of our objectives are to increase recycling rates and improve effluent and waste management. HEALTH SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY: CCIL s Environment Management Policy is defined as: Producing the Ethanol with provision of safe and pollution free environment system both for internal as well as external surrounding areas. Compliance with regulatory requirements provided by environment regulatory bodies as per environmental laws in Pakistan. Considering and reviewing the impact of Ethanol product activities on the environment. Establishing procedures in accordance with the regulatory requirements for assessing the impacts on the Environment. Taking positive measures for continual improvement regarding the safe and healthy Environment in the CCIL premises and neighboring communities. Reviewing the objectives and targets as per defined in the object sheet.

6 ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT: CCIL is committed to running its business in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner. We set goals for continuous improvement in our development, sourcing, manufacturing, and transportation activities. As part of that commitment, we take a long term and life cycle view, continually improve environmental performance, minimizing waste at source, recycling and reusing material and chemicals, recovering biogas to be used as fuel for boilers, communicate openly with our stakeholders and report regularly on our performance. These principles are reflected in our Environmental Policy. Our Environmental Policy describes our environmental commitment at every step in our production chain -- from raw materials to society. Here are some highlights: We maintain open lines of communications on key environmental matters with the communities in which we operate. We support selected communitybased initiatives and activities that promote greater environmental responsibility and awareness. We acknowledge that our operations have an impact on the environment that must be balanced with the benefits our products and services bring to society. We further publish bi-annual corporate environmental reports to communicate our environmental performance, challenges and progress to stakeholders. We believe in and actively implement the five R s which are Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Reduce and Reclaim.

7 EFFLUENT AND WASTE MANAGEMENT: The left over residue and discharge known as spent waste is sent to the Porserpol specializes in the Effluent Treatment Plant which consists of settling pits, cooling, pumping and digesting equipment. The Effluent Treatment Plant is based on the latest technology from the world renowned French company Porserpol. design and erection of installations for treating and recycling liquid effluents. The spent wash from the distillery is collected in cooling and settling pits. After desired temperature is reached, two sets of pumps transport the spent wash to four digesters. Every digester is an independent functioning unit where anaerobic process produces biogas. the

8 This biogas is burnt in boilers to produce steam and in power generation for the distillery. The degassing tank serves the purpose of eliminating gases coming along the liquor which overflows from the digesters saturated with bio gas. After degassing the biomass is separated from the treated stillage which is collected in circular tanks and overflows due to gravity into the sewer system along with excessive amounts of water to control its biological specifications. The remaining sludge in the clarifier is then collected by means of a suction scrapper and is reused and re-circulated to all the digesters by means of pumps. PROJECT PROFILE: The plant is based on French technology provided by the internationally acclaimed M/S Maguin Interis (France) for the manufacture of superfine Ethyl Alcohol. LOCATION: The factory is located on the main Lahore Sargodha road, 35 km from Sargodha city, Mouza Dooda, Tehsil Kot Momin, Pakistan, amidst a cluster of sugar mills where the availability of the sugar cane is high and molasses the raw material for the production of Ethyl Alcohol is in abundance.

9 HUMAN RESOURCE: The human resource consists of about 250 technically highly qualified and trained personnel ranging from engineers, chemists, Technicians, Environmental consultants, Accountants, Financial experts and Marketing executives. These are spread over offices on the factory premises, Lahore and Karachi. PRODUCT: Superfine Ethyl Alcohol is produced through the process of fermentation in the form of portable alcohol. Its concentration is maintained at 96% v/v.
