5 BUSINESS UNIT INDUSTRY This business segment supplies compact basic and customised solutions to industrial plant engineering companies and contractors all over the world. The extensive know-how of one of the most traditional companies, Pollrich Ventilatoren, guarantees ongoing innovation in the field of heavy duty centrifugal. Executed units with a flow rate of 1 million m³/h and 35,000 Pa, at process temperatures up to 450 C, and drive ratings up to 4 megawatts are current applications for Pollrich. Power generation Dust removal technology Wood drying Surface treatment Paper industry Petro chemical industry Chip and fibre board industry Steel mills Textile machinery Thermal processing The substantial portfolio of standardised basic rests upon a modular design system of 21 impeller sizes [400 to 3150 mm] with 10 different diameter ratios and 8 distinct blades geometries. A system which allows adapting the fan design to an amazing number of application cases and this to reasonable costs and delivery schedules. Special operational process conditions are checked by using flow simulation techniques and FEM calculation in close cooperation with the R&D department. Example: Aluminium works at Patagonia. The plant is producing aluminium at a rate of app. 250,000 tons per year. Application: Smoke gas cleaning of the melting oven, operating 24 hours/day at a temperature of 150 C. Execution: 3 main HREK01 80,000 m/h, 68 mbar, max. 200 C. 1 SDS fan HREK01 65,000 m³/h, 12 mbar, max. 250 C. The electric motors, designed for outside operational conditions have been part of the supply. The commissioning during 2 weeks has been made by the company s specialists. ufive

6 BUSINESS UNIT SMOKE EXTRACTION Focussed on smoke extraction, the actual importance of mechanical ventilation for safety and rescue purposes is well emphasised within this business segment. The staff consists of experts for designing a comprehensive safety package beginning with projecting an installation and possibly ending with monitoring its later operation. Building services engineering Underground car park ventilation For the field of underground car parks certified consultants, acting as sales agents, will support the general concept of a complete installation: Technical selection and placement of jet, design of the CO-alarm-system, calculation of the necessary intake and exhaust air flow rate in case of fire backed up by a CFD simulation. All smoke extraction are DIBt certified and CE-conform. The product range includes actually all fire-resistance classes from F200 to F Axial middle and high pressure - Axial and centrifugal roof extraction up to 80,000 m³/h - Car park jet, unidirectional and reversible, axial and centrifugal - Single intake belt driven centrifugal up to 100,000 m³/h. 7 BUSINESS UNIT TUNNEL Reliability of the planning is the customer s requirement. For this reason close cooperation between consultant, principal, operator and the own R&D department, based on a precise system analysis is essential. Modern methods as CFD simulation and FEM calculations, as well as standard laboratories for aerodynamic and acoustical measurements will help to achieve an optimal integration of the installation components. 8 BUSINESS UNIT ENVIRONMENT The economy around environmental concern has developed to a key business field, whose dynamical growth is requiring corresponding strategically follow up for the sales organisation. This business segment is covering railway, shipbuilding, aeronautics, wind and water power generation, recycling technology, waste treatment, sound attenuation, etc. Transportation/Traffic Energy Environmental Technology Experience acquired over years in solving requirements to extreme conditions are giving to us a valuable platform for future tasks: seawater resistant execution of for ships, shock proof units for rolling railway stock, special material adaptations for being used in car test blowers all these extraordinary achievements are adding expertise to our tremendous knowledge base of fan technology and to future developments. 9 BUSINESS UNIT SERVICES The business segment services provides all activities, necessary for a successful start-up and a smooth operation of a fan installation. This includes the provision, supply, and installation of spare parts even for of other manufacturers. Services mean too to offer and supply maintenance, consulting, and optimisation on existing installations. Individually shaped maintenance schedules and contracts or those prepared according to EN for smoke and hot gas exhaust will provide substantial benefits to the unit operator. Information and advice concerning most recent technologies and developments in order to modernise existing installations and thus increasing power and cost efficiency are part of the activities offered by this business segment. In order to reduce the smoke gas emission the electrostatic filter was converted into a baghouse filter and an evaporation cooler was integrated upstream.
