6 Survey Water The One Call Center transmits a Locate Request to Members Comm Elec Gas Sewer And, if necessary, the Members mark the lines in the area of the excavation.
7 Each member utility is responsible for locating their own facilities; Some use company employees to provide this service; Others may use contract locators.

11 Title 5, Chapter 251 Provisions Class A Operators must join Notification Center (Electric, Telephone, Cable, Gas, Oil, Steam, Co2, etc.) Class B Operators may participate voluntarily (Water, Sewer, Slurry) Most Excavators must call before digging (If using power equipment and digging at least 16 inches deep) Advance Notice Required (At Least 2 working days, not more Than 14-Days, excluding Sat, Sun, Holidays) Class A Operators must respond within 2 working days

13 an emergency excavation that is necessary to respond to a situation that endangers life, health, or property or a situation in which the public need for uninterrupted service and immediate reestablishment of service if service is interrupted compels immediate action.

15 Title 5, Chapter 251 What Is Damage (A) the defacing, scraping, displacement, penetration, destruction, or partial or complete severance of an underground facility or of any protective coating, housing, or other protective device of an underground facility; B) the weakening of structural or lateral support of an underground facility; or (C) the failure to properly replace the backfill covering an underground facility.

Observe the Uniform Color Code. If marks are removed or altered, call for a re-mark 4.Dig with care Follow safe excavation practices and hand dig when appropriate.
