5 Market & Regulatory Design Why the Multi-Barrier Approach Both SDWA & Canadian Standards Regulations for UV Disinfection as primary disinfection: Validated Test with Adenovirus as Test Challenge Organism (or an approved surrogate) at 186mJ/cm2 UV dose allows Approval and Regulatory Agencies to assign 4 Log Virus reduction credits. UV Validation Testing must be completed by industry accepted by Independent 3 rd Party Organizations. Note: ANSI / NSF Standard 55 only provides up to 40 mj/cm2 UV Dose.

6 UV Dose for Microorganism Destruction Each microorganism requires a specific amount of 254nm UV light energy value at different UV dose levels for complete destruction based upon type such as E.coli, Cryptosporidium or Virus. Federal, State and local Health Department agencies designate both UV Dose levels and Log Reduction levels. Table 1.4 is the EPA UVDGM (Ultraviolet Disinfection Guidance Manual) UV Dose Chart recognized by all agencies.

12 EPA Final Test Report Issued July 21, 2015 Conclusions: Adenovirus 2 The total LRV by the combined CMF-ATS-186K UV full-scale ATS/Waterline system shows > 4.0 log virus removal. The stand-alone CMF Filter contributed to the overall combined ATS/Waterline log reduction. The lowest LRV of Adenovirus 2 achieved by the stand-alone ATS-186K UV unit test at EOL (70% UVT) condition was > 4.0. Cryptosporidium oocysts The stand-alone CMF Filter unit achieved a > 3.9 log reduction of Cryptosporidium. The stand-alone ATS-186K UV unit achieved a > 4.0 log reduction of Cryptosporidium at studied conditions. Third Party Carollo Validation The ATS-186K UV system recently received (Attachment 7) Independent 3rd party Ultraviolet Disinfection Guidance Manual (UVDGM) validation by Carollo Engineers. The report states, the ATS-186K UV System provides a minimum of 210mJ/cm2 (Validated Red UV Dose) within the UVT range at a maximum design flow rate. The report supports the microbial challenge results identified during the performance and effectiveness evaluations of the ATS- 186K system at the USEPA T&E Facility.

To meet this requirement the Brock Environmental Center will be utilizing a rainwater harvesting system for the daily domestic water supply needs of the building.
